Kaupthing Edge 12 Month Term NOW 7.01%

Kaupthing Edge 12 month Fixed term account is now paying 7.01% gross interest & they have reduced the minimum deposit to £1000 too.

The website front page is still advertising the old 6.86% rate but when I logged in to my account it shows the following.
06 MONTH FIXED TERM 6.85 %
12 MONTH FIXED TERM 7.01 %
36 MONTH FIXED TERM 7.16 %

If its a fixed term then I dont think you will get the higher rate as you get the rate thats available at the time.

If you are stuck on the old rate you could:

simply close your existing fixed term account.
You will incur a 1% loss of interest on your existing deposit.
i.e. you will only receive 5.86% for the 10 days or so.

Then deposit your money in a new 12 month term at 7.01%

It would be worth your while. By closing the existing account, for each £1000, you will "lose" just under 3p interest per day for each day your money has been in the account.
    But
For each £1000 you will earn £1.50 extra interest per year in the new account.
