funding online gambling with credit card

Options
Hi,

Any ideas on whether an online gambling site classes a credit card deposit as a cash advance or a standard transaction ?

If cash advance, anyone know a credit card search site, that searches on cash withdrawal rate / charges ?

Cheers,

It's been a standard transaction on the odd times I've done it, BUT you generally can't withdraw cash back to a mastercard for some reason. Visa seem to let you though.

  • I know egg treats casino deposits as standard transactions. Only reason why I use it!
  • I use credit cards for most of my online gambling without any problem. The betting sites/casinos i use class it as cash payments with no extra fee`s.

Amex won't let you use their card for online gambling apparently! :)

Thanks for the responses, I use a card when needing bigger funds for a sports arbitrage, just wondered whether I would be getting charged for a standard transaction, or a cash withdrawl. Sounds like some bookies are different to others.

I am going to get a seperate credit card for this from other uses, and might as well look for one that has a low charge/interest rate for cadh withdrawals, and a decent cashback.

MBNA charge as a cash withdrawal.

  • Some Halifax cards (i.e. Carphonewarehouse & Amazon card) don't charge a fee, and give cashbacks.
