Round the world ticket

Hi there,

Does anyone have advice about booking a round the world ticket? We should be debt free soon and hope to treat ourselves to some time out and book tickets to go round the world. I'm unsure whether to do it online or in a travel agent and the most MSE way to do it.

Any advice appreciated!

Thanks, Lorna

Thanks Lilly, I had disregarded STA as I'm a part time student and my other half isn't. Do they book non-student trips too??

Can i make a suggestion that you shop around? Defo dont do it nline as most sites wont allow you to book cmplex trips. Try the following for deals that will mostly be the same!
trailfinders, flightcentre, USIT, STA all should have about the same prices on a RTW
    Good luck and enjoy!!

Yep as Penny lane said they do non student trips as well. They seemed to be the cheapest when I looked a while back (decided against it in the end and spent the whole 3 months in South Africa) Don't regret it one bit!

PS I noted on the other board you are thinking of getting a dog. Make sure you wait till you come back, it isn't fair to get a dog (especially a rescue) if you know you are going to be away for a long period of time.

RTW is best booked through an agent - and not just any agent, one that specialises in this sort of thing. Doing it online yourself you may miss some 'tricks' to get you the best routing/deal.

Thanks for the advice, will definitely shop around and will look at STA.

Don't worry Lilly, our month out will not clash with the dog arriving. We are just planning ahead!

We used Travel Nation for our RTW trip at the end of 2006- they are able to negotiate some more unusual routings.

My sister & her friends used STA to book an 18-month round the world trip a few years back. She said they were fab, they gave them loads of help planning where to go, when and how to go about sorting visas for variuos countries.

Her friends were students but she wasn't.

    Hope you have loadsa fun!

Thank you so much for all of the advice. I'll certainly consult the experts on this one, just didn't want to miss a money saving opportunity if I could have done it myself. Much appreciated
