Abbey charge complaint

Hi all, Sorry if this is the wrong place to post message.

Basically my monthly statement came in the post from Abbey. On the statement it states I have am being charged 16p in Instant overdraft interest although I do not have an overdraft.

I 1st rang Abbey explained to them and asked politely why? They then hung up.

I then rang a 2nd time the lady said I should not be charged and so will rectify.

A week later the money had not been put back so rang again for the 3rd time. He said he will fill out a form and the money will be taken out of my account but will then be put back in the same day.

Since then my money has still not been given back to me so I rang for the 4th time, explained and they hung up again.

I know it’s only 16p but I don’t even have an overdraft and the money should not have been taken in the 1st place. It’s costing me more in phone calls and not getting anywhere. The customer service is useless.

Just wondering if there is anything else I can do? Should I write a letter of complaint?

Any help much appreciated.

Many thanks

Unless there is a part of the overdraft facility that is interest free, then you will pay interest on the amount you borrow.
Should I write a letter of complaint?

How much will the stamp cost you?

I haven't borrowed any money from the bank though, i don't even have an overdraft. Even on the phone abbey said they should not have taken the money but have not yet paid it back.

Not sure, but have rung 4 times and have been put on hold for a while to then be hung up on.

Have you paid any cheques in and drawn funds before the cheques cleared?

Are you sure it was available? Cheques when you pay them in show on your balance as being added. That and actually going overdrawn are the two things which would create a charge. 16p sounds like a single day.

If you think nothing wrong in your part, I suggest that you contact their complaint department in the UK rather than their call centre overseas. Below are the contact details:-
