Wedged between the Mediterranean and Atlantic, Europe and Africa, Morocco is one of the most stimulating and awe-inspiring travel destinations on earth. With a wonderful climate, a rich heritage, a wealth of antiquities, over 1800km of dramatic coastline, the high peaks, villages and picturesque valleys of the Atlas Mountains, and a vast Saharan wilderness of desert dunes, oases and camels – there is an adventure of some kind for everyone in this fabled land.
Basking in the year-round sun of southern Morocco, this easy-going private journey provides a real contrast of Moroccan experiences. From staying in an iconic restored Kasbah on the edge of an Atlas Berber village, to resting in a beautiful Riad in the heart of an ancient Imperial City – this trip has it all. Travelling by private 4WD vehicle and staying in comfortable and very traditional riad accommodation, plus the dramatically located Kasbah du Toubkal, the winner will enjoy a seven-night trip to three contrasting highlights of southern Morocco.
After spending a couple of days exploring the atmospheric souks, palaces, gardens and museums of Marrakech, you will head up into the High Atlas mountains to spend two nights at the acclaimed Kasbah du Toubkal. This restored heritage building lies dramatically positioned above the Berber village of Imlil and offers a choice of walks to suit all abilities. You’ll then head for Morocco’s Atlantic coast to the old Portuguese-influenced town of Essaouira. Here you’ll have time to unwind, explore the ancient medina and perhaps enjoy a memorable sunset or two before returning to Marrakech for a final night. Accommodation includes seven nights in traditional riads in Marrakech and Essaouira plus the Kasbah du Toubkal in the High Atlas, staying in comfortable en-suite room with all breakfasts included, plus two lunches and two dinners.
