Help - buzzing on phone when connected to broadband

Hi everyone!
This is something I should've gotten sorted ages ago..we have broadband with Madasafish, landline with BT. We use the one socket for both with a filter attached.
Ever since we got broadband, when anyone uses the phone, it kicks us out of the internet and we have to wait for it to reconnect. Or did - nowadays it seems to say 'unable to establish a connection' and we have to reboot, which is frustrating to say the least.
Our landline phone had broken so we got a digital cordless one with a couple of handsets yesterday - they buzz like crazy when we're connected to broadband (most of the day) and so we're going to have to do something about it, but I don't know what - other than installing a new socket for the pc? Hopefully there is something else we can do that is cheaper, I wonder if anyone can help please? As I have no idea what to do really!
Thanks loads in advance for any help you can offer!
Lucy

Tried replacing the microfilter?"She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

... with a good quality one? (For example - the ones 'with tails' are generally regarded as better than the single-piece 'adapter' types...)0

Have you pluged the lines in the corect holes on the mircofilter - I had crackling on my after I changed it, the reason was because I didn't put the lines back in the correct holes.0

Is it a wireless router by any chance???, maybe it's interfereing with the phones at radio frequency level to find out get a telephone extension and use it to move phone base stations well away from the router.
If you don't use the wifi on the router you will find a setting in its config pages to turn off the wireless facilityclick here to achieve nothing!0 -
Hi, thanks for your replies everyone - I managed to get a new ADSL filter today and excitedley plugged it in..then realised it won't fit with out set up. I'm hoping that it's an easily solveable problem?
Our only phone socket is in the hallway - there is a double phone socket, my husband has run a telepphone cable into our room for the PC. We can't connect the ADSL filter in the hallway as the sockets are for the square plug on the modem and the rectangular socket of the phone - in the hall we only have two rectangular sockets for the phone & phone ext cable.
In the room, at the end of the phone extension cable we have the ADSL filter (which we've had years) which connects up to the modem only. So I guess that's why we have the hissing.
Does anyone know how we can best solve this problem, as cheaply as possible please? Sorry if I've not explained it very well, it confuses me to think about it! Please do let me know if there's something I'm missing out here. We'd just be so pleased to be able to use the PC while using the phone at the same time without it kicking us out/hissing violently!! All help very welcomed indeed, thanks so much.

It's not wireless btw, would this solve our problem would you think? I did get a free wireless router from Madasafish but returned it to prevent me from being tied to them. Plus I couldn't figure it out - our pc is quite old, doesn't have usb 2.0/ethernet/firewire/etc. Things don't seem to just plug in to it like they do most folks, lol!0 -

Don't understand what you mean by this. Your phone needs to be plugged into a filter and the filter plugged into the double phone socket, otherwise you will hear the ADSL noise.

The filter connected to the modem is not actually filtering anything but is necessary to connect the modem to the phone socket. Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Try using a filter between your phone line and the master socket even though you aren't plugging a modem into it.0

Not entirely convinced with your setup but have a look here http://www.dslzoneuk.net/socket.php?type=html , the bottom shows various examples. Every working socket must be filtered.“I look like Spiderman at a funeral”~ Karl Pilkington0

That's the way I understand it - every working phone socket in the house will need a filter, not just the one your modem's hooked up to.
Usually a router or modem will have a couple of them bundled with it...0
