Hi everyone,
I'd help you out as I have a lot of knowledge of consumer protection.
Piece of advise, never pay via check, postal order, Western Union or NoChex.
Always use a service such as PayPal, using your credit card (MasterCard prefered) or Visa Debit card.
There is reasoning behind my madness, is that if you don't get your goods, you won't have to go through the poor eBay or PayPal dispute system. Simply go to your card issuer, they can do a chargeback and retrieve your funds for you... simple.
The reason for prefering a MasterCard is if you get the goods and say they're broken or faulty, the seller has to arrange for the pick up of the goods, and YOU don't have to pay a penny. Visa you have to have proof the seller received the goods back before you issuer can help.
The reasoning behind not using Western Union or NoChex is these companies are 'Money Transfer' companies, once they have transfered your money to the seller, that's their part done, and your CC issuer cannot charge the item back say as "Goods not received" as the seller received their goods, the money.
Use PayPal and your credit card and you'll be fine.
Thanks all

Personally I agree with you anOkey and never use anything other than paypal to buy on ebay.
However, you will find that some people hate paypal with a vengeance and just won't use it on principal.
As for the Mastercard bit, I saw something in the financial press about this last week, I can't quite get my head round the fact that Mastercard is better for claiming against than Visa, maybe I will have to rethink which credit card I use as I am currently using Visa.
