Help with a toshiba portege 7020CT

I bought this laptop a few years ago second hand, it worked fine for about a year and then started to freeze and shut down. After a few months of that it just stopped working wouldn't turn on also it took a tumble and the screen cracked. So it was put in a cupboard and forgotten about.

I came across it yesterday and thought i'd try and turn in on and to my surprise it came on but when i click for internet it says ''the page cannot '' and the rest has ink so i'm not sure what it would say but i think it would be ''be displayed''. If i can get an internet connection then i'll buy a screen for it. There is no disk drive in it and it's windows ME.

Any help would be great as i'd hate to throw it out but if it's not gonna work then it's not gonna work. I'm not very good at computers so i really need it explained in simple terms.

EDIT To say i have just done a pest trap control panel and scanned, there is 26 threats found most are Trojan and it says privacy risk very high/ severe, data something(ink again) severe. It says it is now removing found threats. please wait..
