Electoral Register Question

Apologies, I see a lot of electoral register questions, but none specifically about this.

I lived and was registered at my parents until 2001 with a good credit history, but didn't maintain an entry on any electoral register whilst away at University since then.

I've now come to apply for a CC for a 0% balance transfer and have been rejected on a number of occasions, presumably because of being missing from the electoral register.

I've filled the form in to be added, but I understand it will take a few months for this to filter through to the reference agencies.

So, my questions are:

- Once I'm added, will I still have problems due to the fact that I've been missing for three years?
- Would adding a note onto my credit reports help?
- How long does it take to filter through the to the CRAs?

Thanks in advance!
Ben

Ben...if the only problem is not being on the electoral register then once you're on you should be ok.
it takes approx 6 weeks, these registers are updated once a month i think.
you can add a note, i did but not sure what difference it makes.
filtering thro the CRA is quite easy, the main two you're gonna have to check is Experian & Exquifax.
Somewhere in here there is a link to both sites to get your report for £2.00 but not sure where it is.

    Hope this helps

  • Are you sure you weren't registered whilst at uni? If you were in halls of residence the university informs the council so you should be on the electoral register.

Why is equifax charging £9.95 for your credit report? I thought it was about £2.00.

Scroll down to bottom right of page, and look for...

"If you wish to purchase the Statutory Report for £2, See Your Rights to Credit Information." (clickable link)
