I'm after a new mascara, but obviously a reasonably priced one.. does anyone have any recommendations?
I find my normal ones aren't all that good, they're a bit clumpy and and dry out quite quickly.

Max Factor always works for me - its the only brand that doesn't make my eyes itch!!! I like their 2000 calorie one....0

Always, always, no matter which brand you're using, wipe off the wand on a tissue or something before applying. This and a metal eyelash comb are the only way I can ever get non-clump lashes!
Plus, and I know all the mags say don't do it, if a mascara dries out fast, i try adding a tiny bit of water (hold the brush under the tap for a microsecond, replace, repeat until desired consistency is reached!). It works for me - no matter what the beauty editors say! LOL
My personal favs (and i do think it has a lot to do with your lashes, which seem to be all different, just like one shampoo will work for one person and not another) are:
Rimmel extra lash (or whatever it's called)
Estee lauder double wear
Lancome's new one (can't remember it's name - helpful!)
Define a lash
The absolute worst for MY lashes is great-lash, the one everyone raves about! Also, dior-show was terrible!
If you find a mascara you love and have lots of others to use up, try washing out the brush of the one you love once you've finished it and just moving that around your other mascaras. Sometimes you'll find that it's the brush that works for you rather than the mascara itself.
I find that even brands like collection 2000 mascaras are absolutely fine AS LONG as i wipe the brush off well on a tissue before applying. In fact, since wiping it off feels so awful (all that product going to waste!) paying as little as possible for your mascara is probably a good thing! LOL0 -
Thanks for this... I have 2 on the go at the moment, I alternate because some days one is better than the other... I just want nice, long, non-clumpy lashes!!

Hi - I found L'oreal telescopic to be great if you just want lengthening, not thickening. And Max Factor Masterpiece is FANTASTIC and reviewed really well everywhere. It does the job, both thickening and lengthening...We got rid of the kids. The cat was allergic.

I have to say, Loreal Telescopic was extremely disappointing for me: thin coat that hardly lasts and it stiffened my lashs that they honestly felt painful after applying it. This shows you how personal what works is!!! Also tried Bourjois Clubbing mascara..don't recommend it either: it did dry out pretty quickly and was so clumpy. It may be that I am too fussy!!!
Only yersterday I bought Max Factor Masterpiece and first impression is, it is absolutely fine for a tener.
Good luck in finding one that does the job, I can imagine how annoying it is to buy something just to throw it away :mad:0 -
I'd second Masterpiece by Max Factor, it is a great mascara, I always use a mascara comb afterwards.
I recently bought the new L'oreal carbon black one, this was dire and smudged really badly, a big thumbs down from me.A minute at the till, a lifetime on the bill.
Nothing tastes as good as being slim feels.

Clinique is my favorite, pricey but well worth it...... dosen't go all gooey like some do.

Another vote of Max Factor Masterpiece. I bought a No 7 in a gold tube which the assistant said was the equivalent of the Max Factor one. It is not. I cannot get on with it at all. The brush is so huge and unwieldy I end up with it all over the place.
I hate to waste the No 7 one though and so I am using the brush from the Masterpiece mascara. Will be glad when it is finished though.:rotfl:0
