Tempur Mattress...again!

Options
Hi,

I know there have been numerous threads on this but was hoping for some feedback on the matresses related to this article:

http://groups.google.com/group/alt.consumers.uk-discounts.and.bargains/msg/4cdb57490b124a4c?q=mattress&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&rnum=1

Has anyone bought one of these german memory mattresses. Were they any good? They appear to be cheaper than the UK alternatives.

Thanks
Filiss

    Hi there,

I bought one of their Viskose Dream mattresses in "Super King Size", at the start of July and have absolutely no regrets whatsoever.

It feels very firm, but this is what I wanted as I did have back problems prior to purchasing one which have all but gone away now.

One thing I will say is try to confirm their postage costs prior to bidding on the item, they tried to charge me an extra £25 on top of the Uk price for P&P to Scotland. (I dont think anyone ever told them that Scotland is part of the UK), however on checking they reneged and gave at the initially quoted price.

There delivery service was fantastic to say the least. I bought and paid for my Mattress on the Sunday night. I got a phone call from a British Based courier on the Thursday to ask when they could deliver it. I asked basically as soon as possible as I was very keen to receive, so Monday was arranged. Imagine my surprise/delight, when I arrived home on the friday afternoon to find it sitting outside my door (neighbour had signed for it). Fantastic - quicker than most UK based services. (albeit £60)

All in all very good service though - I left very good feedback and got the same in return, which does however look to be their standard reply, which was left about 2 weeks after I left mine. I would recommend them to absolutely anyone.

When I purchased my mattress they had quite a few various sizes as Auctions, I won my "superking size 180x200" mattress for £67 !!!!, with the buy it now price currently at £181. The auction was in german, so I had to make sure I was bidding on the correct item. However they generally had the translated one available as the buy it now - just adjust your sizes to suit !!!

If you search for the mattresses in ebay it doesnt alway bring up the foreign auctions they have listed so try this link.

    clickhere for shop

Hope that link worked - first shortened one yet !!!

Finally, As with all ebay auctions - be prepared to let the item go, Research the recent price of the mattress that you want by looking into their feedback, or searching finished items with the appropriate buzz words. When I bought they seemed to list the same auctions every 3 days, so plenty of opportunity to catch a bargain !!

    Hope this helps.

P.s. It would be interesting to know if anyone has bought one of their "gelschaum" mattresses as these I believe would be more of a direct comparision to Tempur mattresses.

I also found that the "viskose" mattress was very similar to the Cheaper foam Vacuum packed mattresses that can be purchased in several larger bed/mattress shops for around £400.

I noticed that IKEA are selling mattresses with the top layer memory foam.

They have various sizes which are in centimetres but I presume they are as follows or thereabouts :)

    single £90

    double £100

    king size £120

Then there is a larger size which is £140 but I am not sure which size bed it refers to, or whether I have got them in right order.

Quite reasonable though as just buying the toppers they start about £100 I think.

Well Lionking - was this of any use to you ?, as I clearly went out of my way to try and help you with your question - would be interesting to hear feedback.

Also it would maybe help others if you changed the title to Tempur mattress instead of temur.

Have a tempur matress and is the best money spent, no problems with sleeping and back pain is not a troublesome,
  • Hi Alictait,

Apologies for delayed response but have been on hols. Thanks for the answer and i think i will go for similar mattress to yourself. £67 is a bargain!

Does the mattress mould to your body shape or is that asking to much for £67?

  • Hi again,

You dont really sink in to it as such, it moulds itself to your body shape to a certain extent but difficult to explain. Its certainly the best mattress that I have ever slept on and gives my wife and I a fantastic sleep. Be interesting to know how much you get one for if you do win it !, as I said - just bide your time when bidding as they seem to have the auctions running every 3 days.

Friendly Ghost - was everything as expected postage cost wise ?

    Glad to be off assistance.

Hi, i have just puchased the tempur style mattress from Ikea. Well it is a mattress with a top layer of memory foam (2ins).
It is advertised as "firm" and we have now had it a week.
It took some getting used to , primarily because there are no springs, so you don't sink in. Also you seem to haul yourself out LOL

I can honestly say it is fantastic! It was only £140 for a Kingsize one and I have never slept better.
I used to toss and turn adn go to the loo a couple of times a night but now I just turn a couple of times and sleep like the proverbial baby.

It's certainly not too hot, like others have said.
