We have five copies of The Holistic Haggadah up for grabs.
What is the most commonly asked question at almost any Seder table? Is it time for the food yet?
Or the most often repeated expression after the Seder? Â Thank God that's over? And what is one of the most common explanations to why certain rituals exist?
So the children will ask or So they will stay up late. What if it could be different? What if this night had the ability to make you different? What if this night had the ability to bring you closer to your family, enable your questions or answers to be heard, bring a sense of true inner freedom? Â
The Holistic Haggadah by Michael Kagan is a different Haggadah whose objective is just this.
It doesn't just play on the intellect but rather involves the entire bandwidth of what defines us as humans. Â It is a mind/body/spiritual introduction to a magical evening of self-discovery through an experiential journey into the confines of Mitzraim (Egypt) and out the other side.
It is constructed on four levels: clear and precise instructions guide the traveler through the sometimes bizarre physical rituals; the emotions are triggered through the traditional text and the poetic translations of Reb Zalman Schachter-Shlomi; an original commentary stimulates the intellect with historical references, parallels to films, books and anomalies in the Hebrew text; and finally a level of commentary that aims for the spirit, that flies you high above the ordinary. Â
Two teasers Â! why would the wise child be the lowest on the rung? What has the charoset got to do with the healing power of love?
