I am recieving N.I credits from Incapacity benifits.
Could someone explain what this means and how it is benifiting me.
Will it be that when I have enought credits I will get some kind on money coming in from the benifit, if so how long will this take and how can I found out.
If I start to get a small amount of money coming in from self employed type work, will this stop my benifits ot at the moment my N.I credits?
I am very comfused and any guidence will be very helpfull.

It means that for each week you get I.B you receive one weeks credit towards your basic state pension as well as accruing a little bit of additional state pension.
one weeks NI credit is the equivalent of earning about £82 per week. You need the equivalent of 52 credits in anyone year for it to count towards your State Pension.
Divide your total employed earnings by £82 and add the number of full weeks you received NI credits and the number of full weeks you have paid class2 self employed NI for and if this comes to 52 or greater you have a year towards your pension.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

The credits you are being awarded in this current tax year, 05/06, would only benefit a claim commencing Jan 07, providing you had either received credits for the full year or had some earnings prior to going sick. You would also need to have paid/been credited for a full year for 04/05. This is a very basic explanation and other conditions apply also.
If you are still sick in Jan 06, you can make a new claim for IB and your claim can be looked at again taking different tax years into account.
Regarding the SE earnings, you should speak to the Jobcentre Plus first (if you can get them to answer the phone ) more here http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/cms.asp?Page=/Home/Customers/WorkingAgeBenefits/492#claimingbenefits This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune! ) more here http://www.jobcentreplus.gov.uk/cms.asp?Page=/Home/Customers/WorkingAgeBenefits/492#claimingbenefits This site has saved me a fortune :money: ...it's also cost me a fortune!

Further to the sound advice posted here, rather than phone, It's worth sending them a letter, asking for a current statement. You may be surprised at the speed of their reply - I was - and the fact they often offer different options that may be to your advantage.
They do seem to be one of the few departments who are set up to send out meaningful letters in a short time frame.0
