Historic scotlands open weekend is the 12th and 13th of april, free entry to most places.

MoneySavingExpert.com Official Insert:

Over 70 Historic Scotland attractions will open to the public for free. The opening times over the Free Weekend are 09.30 to 17.30 (last admission 17.00) unless otherwise stated. Some of the smaller properties may close over lunchtime.

The Free Weekend is a very popular annual event and it can get very busy at peak times. Queuing or returning at a less busy time may be required. Edinburgh and Stirling castles are expected to be extremely busy with the possibility of queues at peak times.

    Great!!

    We're visiting Edinburgh on Sat 12 - Sun 13 April and I was looking for some cheap tickets for Edinburgh Castle.

    Now I won't have to pay a penny :D

  • I went to Edinburgh Castle on the free weekend in 2006. Expect to be queueing for 30-60 minutes to get in. That said, it's worth the wait.

    Unfortunately, we'll miss out this year as we're going to be visiting family in England that weekend. Oh well, maybe next year.
