Suggestions for Bank Holiday UK break

Options
Hi people

Ok need to get away for a few days with the family (wife, 3 boys 9 and under).
Since we are saving for a new house we can only manage a short UK break this year :(.

Wife seems pretty keen on Devon. Our budget is approx £500 to spend on the best accommodation for 3 nights, must be child friendly and have plenty off attractions.

Note, doesn't have to be Devon, any where in the UK is fine with me.

Thanks in advance

TM (:

Well you may like to keep her happy and opt for Devon :) (it's a nice place anyway). Cornwall, Dorset and the Lake District are good too. What about staying on a working farm? (good fun for kids)

Here are some sites for ideas:

How about North Wales or Anglesey?

I can't recommend the above site either way, I only know about it because my friend has a 5* cottage listed on there, which would suit your other half down to the ground!

I would sayTry Cornwall, No doubt it will be busy but nevertheless it's very nice. The local papers suggest that the bookings are down this year, so accomodation is easier to find.
It will no doubt cost loads on petrol getting here, but that's the Govn't for you.

FALMOUTH. Is a biggish town with a port and harbours etc. The main attraction is the national maritime museum. They also have a funpool called ships and castles with waterslides etc. The shops are pretty good too. There are a variety of boat trips available as Falmouth is one of deepest esturies in europe so plenty to see there. Fishing trips are available too if that's your thing. Nearby is the Gweek seal sanctuary. also
Goonhilly earth satelite station. In fact there are loads of things to do in that area and some great coastline to explore. The beaches are excellent too. I could cut and paste stuff all day. Try this for a 30 mile drive near me, worth a look. Hope this helps and you have a good time.

Try the Peak district, Buxton, Matlock Bath, Bakewell etc. Lived there for a while and loved the place. Can't be too far away from you?

How about Pembrokeshire? The coastline alone rivals anything Devon/Cornwall has to offer, and it's also a lot less crowded and commercialised even in, say, Tenby which is the biggest 'hot spot' in the county. Prices are good too and the roads much quieter; we're still a fairly 'undiscovered' destination! :D
