I could really use some help, my kids are on summer hols, one is 3 and one is 6 and they are desperately bored already. My hubbie is working full time and has no time off for this period. I don't drive and we are not going on hols either as we can't afford it. To further complicate things I am expecting our 3rd child end of September so don't have much energy etc. I was wondering if anyone knows of any cheap things to do or things I could do at home to keep them occupied. I feel awful cos they are bored but I am shattered too.
                Money's too tight to mention!!!

check you local county council's website or your district council, i've just been looking at mine and they list things to do in the summer hols, a lot of which are free!0

Home baking - kids love making cakes and it shouldn't be too strenuous for you either - you can just sit and supervise and help them with the oven bit. You also get a great end result - something yummy to eat, and it gives the kids a real sense of achievement to have made something themselves - particularly if mummy and daddy rave over what very clever children they are to have made such a delicious feast!
What about a trip to the cinema? I have no idea how much it costs these days as I haven't been for a good few years, but again it's something where you can sit down!
What about an indoor picnic? Get them to help you prepare the food, put a tablecloth down on the floor and perhaps get them a new video or DVD to watch or something ... lots of their teddies could come to the picnic too.
I'm sure someone else will be along with some other suggestions soon.

You've already had some good ideas. Do they or you have any friends? If so, get in touch quick! Most parents are equally desperate to 'swap' kids, either getting together or you have theirs, they have yours, even if it's just one at a time it can make it a lot easier. And kids in groups are sometimes easier to deal with.
Paddling pool in the garden on a nice day? Teenagers next door are having a ball!
Is there a local SureStart group? if so they may have summer activities which older children can tag along to.
