I have a dilema. Last May 07 we received a electric bill and we were in credit. Unable to work this out we contacted british Gas to cut a long series of phone calls short, found we had a faulty meter which hadn't been working for sometime. BG came out to replace it and we were told they would estimate a new bill for us. Nothing arrived. Since the new meter in August we have had 2 visits from meter readers but no bills have arrived. What should we do? Contact BG and come clean, keep quite until one day we get found out and receive possibly a massive bill or try to switch suppliers???? Any advice and also does anyone know how long back BG could look to recover monieseven if they haven't billed us?
Thanks:rotfl:

They will chase the debt once they get their act together. It may get complicated if you wish to switch supplier if they have you down on record as owing lots so you need to really enquire about the state of your account with them. Please support my thanks button if I have been of any help

Free electricity is a big problem for the industry.
There is no incentive to find those not paying, many as in this case not the customers fault, but even more those who have reconnected themselves.
There is no incentive because the electricity used by those not paying is regarded as system losses, and part of the distribution costs which is added to the bills of those who pay.
Until there is a 100% audit of all the properties in the country the problem will grow
A known problem in the industry, no-one wants to tackle.0
