I'm hoping some of you wonderful people can help me out (grovel, grovel...). I asked my Mum what she'd like me to make her for Mother's Day (I know, not much time left, but she's happy to wait for it to arrive in the post) and she has asked for a sort of roll-up case to keep her gardening bits in, a bit like the roll-up jewellry bags/cases you get. She only has a small garden mainly in pots, so it won't have to hold a spade or lawnmower or anything like that!
Only thing is, I'm not much of a gardener, so I don't know what I should make the pockets for. So far I have a list of:
trowel
fork (short hand-held one)
twine/string
secateurs
seed packets
What else do you use in the garden that you think would be handy to have in this? I'm going to embroider the pockets with the name of what should go in each, so I don't want to miss something obvious!
Thanks, Cx

Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.

Hi
All i can think of so far is plant labels and gloves as i'm not that organised0 -
Brill thanks! She's always running out of plant labels, so I might buy her a few bits and bobs to go in it.Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.0

How about some nice hand cream as well...........I wear gardening gloves bit still manage to get my hands a bit of the rough side messing about with soil.
You can also get pocket sized books I'm sure about plants, recognising weeds etc.
Sounds like it'll be a lovely present and worth waiting forMary
I'm creative -you can't expect me to be neat too !

Thanks Mary, that is a nice idea. I've just finished assembling it and am pleased with the end result. There are two big pockets at one end for seed packets, so I think I'll pop some hand cream and a collins gem type book in them. Just a bit of embroidery so she knows which pocket is for what and it'll be good to go. I think it might wait until tomorrow - dread to think what the stitches would be like if I started it this late!Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.0

Wilkinsons do a small packet of cheap plant labels. They also have quite a nice stainless and wood tool range, which includes a good trowel. As far as I am concerned, they look like tools at least twice the price.Freedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0

Finally finished it! Will be off to Wilkinson's later for some bits to add to it. Thanks for all your help!Only when the last tree has died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish has been caught will we realise that we cannot eat money.0
