Are there any credit cards out there that offer free comprehensive travel insurance? Not the basic travel accident cover but a proper travel insuance like the one offered free with the A&L current account?

I think Amex offer it on their charge cards in exchange for a hefty annual free and Barclaycard will be offering it when holidays are booked through their Travel Service but does anyone have a 'no strings attached' insurance?

Why would anyone offer you 'free' insurance on a free product?

Even the keenest priced annual policies from money supermarket cost £60 for a couple so unless you are getting insurance as part of a package (eg Amex or Barclays Additions) or getting it as a condition of buying through a certain supplier (eg barclaycard) you won't find free insurance as such.

Even with these packages you are probably still better of going for a best buy card account with cashback then getting your travel insurance from a cheap supplier.

The nearest thing to free insurance at the moment is the Barclays additions plus account which I think is offering it for 10 months free but you have to pay £1000 a month into the account and the fee rises to £12.99 a month after 10 months.

I don't think you will find a true free policy with no strings attached.

However the Coop Travel Card offers free comprehensive travel insurance or 5% off when booking through their travel service, plus other benefits.

Also Egg offer free European family annual travel insurance if you take out their Household insurance.
