Free five pound voucher for m and s if you donate old clothes to oxfam

i was in m and s the other day and heard an anouncement saying that if you get five old marks and spencer garments you dont want anymore and take them to an oxfam shop you will get a five pound voucher to spend at m and s. you will only be able to redeem it on a thirty pound spend but if like me you do food shop there sometimes it could come in useful. I have loads of old m and s stuff hanging around that is too small or whatever. i think it is because they want to big up their green credentials and stop stuff going to landfill. :j

I thought that this sounded too good to be true, but it is true. I checked the Oxfam website and it says that if you donate a bag of clothes which contains at least one item of M&S clothing, you get a £5 voucher. This is a good deal as I have at least 10 bags of clothes to get rid of and loads of M&S stuff, so I am doing them a favour and vice versa.0

I have made the most of this offer already
. It is as Marbella above says, hand over a bag of unwanted stuff to Oxfam including at least one M&S item and get a £5 off £35 M&S voucher to be spent that month.
I went in to Oxfam twice with a bag of clothes, got a voucher each time. Went to M&S to get dinner suit + bow tie + shirt which was needed for this w/e. Split into two transactions of £35 each (added £1 handsoap to second transaction to get upto £35) and got £5 off both times! Was well impressed. So was the SA serving me, she was going to get herself a voucher from Oxfam.

How much do Oxfam sell secondhand garments for? Would it not be better for M&S to donate this money to Oxfam instead? Surely Oxfam would raise more money if they did. I’m not saying people shouldn’t take advantage of this but to me this doesn’t seem to add up.
Maybe someone who works for Oxfam could clarify this.

The only 'catch' is the £5 off voucher is only valid for a clothing transaction. Unfortunately you can't use it on a food shop.

also how do oxfam know you have m&s clothes in your donation bag? do you have to tell them and ask for voucher??0

I took a bag in to my Oxfam on Sat. with a mix of clothes/books/shoes & they happily took it & i only had 1 item from M&S in the bag & they did not
even check.
They had a poster on the door about the promotion with M&S.
Got voucher but it does have a time limit on to use by end of month.

It is not JUST for clothes, on the flyer it says 'Clothing, Home and Beauty'
