Following on from the original – which broke all records for a soundtrack with 7 million global sales and rising, and a Guinness World Record for the most successful songs in the Billboard Top 100 at one time from any soundtrack – High School Musical 2 became the most hotly anticipated sequel in years.
The album, features ten new songs from the Disney Channel Original Movie sequel plus 4 bonus track and a bonus DVD featuring exclusive footage of the cast recording and rehearsal sessions plus interviews and music videos!
Like its predecessor, High School Musical 2 uses songs to tell much of its story with the key themes ‘believe in yourself,’ ‘express yourself,’ and ‘stay true to yourself’ carried through the lyrics. Together, the songs tell the highs and lows of summer for Troy, Gabriella, Ryan, Sharpay, Chad, Taylor and the rest of the East High School Wildcats in the singing, dancing, comedy and romance filled movie sequel.
The soundtrack features music by many of the same songwriters who contributed to the original movie -- Jamie Houston, Matthew Gerrard, Robbie Nevil, Andy Dodd, Adam Watts, Randy Peterson, Kevin Quinn, David Lawrence and Faye Greenberg -- as well as the work of a pair new to the High School Musical sensation, Tim James and Antonina Armato.
