 In November of last year we had a company called housejob.co.uk come, they had a professional website which we were impressed with. But one of the main reasons we went with him was that we also needed a qualified electrician as we wanted our fuse-box moved and the cheapest quote we had from an electrician was 500pounds, but Vincent(THE COWBOY BUILDER) he said he was qualified and was able to do this and do it cheaper as he was doing the whole flat, the bathroom, the kitchen the flooring etc, so we went with him. As soon as he started doing the kitchen he wanted to get paid, on the very first day he requested 1000pounds deposit, but we refused to give him that as it was not part of our agreement, which he was not happy about.
After that he seemed to be insisting that we give him money for this and that, whether it was paying his staff cash for there salaries, or paying for materials which he was meant to pay for. Everything about the job just went from bad to worst, he did not seem to know what he was doing as he kept asking us what to do, and what order to do everything. This meant that instead of taking 1 week to finish the kitchen he took more than 3 weeks, and still did not get the job done. He did not do some of the major jobs which we had to pay someone else to do, and what he had done was of very poor quality. The draws would not shut propery, the sink was leaking (and still is), the floor was not level and was not cut propery, the extractor fan did not work since he put it on the wall, also he did not put the hole in the wall for the extractor fan vent. Plus, as i have said, attempted to move the fuse-box.While he was doing the kitchen we had no water for 1 whole week and was unable to WASH for 3 weeks which was of great distress and uncomfort. We were a little suspicious when he took the new fuse-box away with him and then came back the next day to fix it. Once he had moved and fitted the new fuse-box we had someone else check it, and we were informed that not only what he done was illgalilly done (the way the wires where connected) but he also had not installed the fuse-box correctly so that the flat was not as safe as it was before he started as the RCD was not connected (i dont know much about this just what i have been told). Not only that, but, he had disconnected the Earth which meant that if anything went wrong with any appliance or if there was a power surge, then we would die (so i was told), we have since lived in fear that if we were to touch anything then we would die. So not only has this man come into our flat and done a particually poor job on the kitchen, but also he has endangered ourlives by lying about a qualification that he does not acually possess. On the day that we had a qualified electrician come and nexamin his work only to tell us of the bad ews, he packed up all his tools into his van, and we have not heard back from him since. We did question him as to why he was packing everything up, but he said it was so that he could clean the lounge as it was very messy from where they had been working. He has left us with a big hole in the wall with exposed wires, wires that are not joined correctly or even legally, and with a flat that is now unsafe. He has also taken money from us, as we paid him money as he said he had none to get home, paid for his staff (by cash), and also paid for materials which where not part of the deal. He also stole the materials we paid for, our extractor fan hood and some other things that were in the lounge. Plus we had to pay someone else to do all the jobs that he either did not finish or did not start so we are out of pocket with a kitchen looking not the way we wanted it.
We tried to call him for 2 weeks after he did not show up, but his mobile was turned off, we left messages but we did not get any call back from him. This man is a danger to anyone that chooses to use his services.
