car breakdown insurance UK/SPAIN.

Is there a policy to cover jointly,6 months in Spain, followed by 6 months in

the UK? The nearest that I have seen is RAC/AA/similar policies based in the

UK,but including on the more expensive options,90 days use in Europe.

How do they know which 90 days you are taking,do you have to inform them

prior to travel?

If there are no suitable policies, can anyone offer a good value SPANISH

annual policy?

Does the spanish one repatrite the vehicle? Which I think is the main point of concern when driving abroad.

OP, compare the prices you are getting with Prudential insurance (£75 cash back for new policies via quidco) & they give you free full UK & European 90 days cover on all comprehensive policies.

They would of course ask to see your ferry tickets in the event of a claim. If you have been there more than 90 days it could be expensive. Also your comprehensive cover would only be valid (I would have thought) if you phoned them up to say "I'm off to Europe for the next 3 weeks" so the two extended covers are both linked in that way.

Many thanks for your replies,Wig and hartcjhart.

The bit about 2 policies are better, relates to 2 annual ones running in parallel does it?

The bit about Prudential/Quidco is good.Never thought of them doing breakdown insurance!

It's amazing who does what nowadays,my father in law last year got a good deal for his travel insurance with Halfords!(on yer bike and all that)!!!

    see here

follow the prudential car insurance link and then the subsequent link to their website, you can see they offer complimentary european breakdown cover with their car insurance policies.

I would suggest you look at the German company ADAC. They have an English website and offer European wide (inc UK) cover for a very reasonable price (under €100 as I recall). I haven't had to use them but am a member.
