Free flight just for joining BMI Diamond Club

BMI are offering a free flight to destinations such as UK,Austria, Belgium, France, Germany, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Republic of Ireland and Switzerland. Way I see it, is if I join, and so does the wife, then that's a free flight each.
Seems completely free - money for nothing!

Taxes do still need to be paid - but that's normally the case for most frequent flyer schemes, apart from the Airmiles/Lloyds Duo Mastercard offer that's currently on - it includes all taxes but you need to book a night in a hotel via airmiles, which isn't the cheapest.0

How do you get the free flight???
I signed up for the Diamond Club and didnt get anything. Ther was nothing on the site stating that you get a free flight anyway.

It takes time to come through - you get the miles credited to your account, but it doesn't happen instantly - it will happen though.
The sites covered in references to the free flight. If you go to:

On the right hand side you'll see a box that starts with "Diamond Club, Free Flight Offer". If you click the link here it takes you to: http://www.flybmi.com/bmi/en-gb/reward-schemes/diamond-club/diamond-club.aspx
at the bottom of which theres a box which says "Join diamond club, the UK's most generous frequent flyer scheme, and we'll give you enough miles for a free flight."

It's not technically a 'free flight' - it's 9000 miles which, amongst other things, could be used for a 'free' flight (i.e. just pay taxes) within Europe.
hope that makes sense.
