You get 12 tins of top notch Napolina tins for 3 quid in ASDA.
Me got 'em even cheaper and filled up wheel barrow full of 'em.
Hope this helps a pasta eater.

Came on you don't really want to eat the value ones. Are you mad?
Let me tell you a little bed time story.
In the south of Italy were most tomatoes are grown there is a river.
This river is the most polluted river in Europe, google it, it's called Sarno River.
Basically this is full of chemicals and other !!!! and it regularly floods the adjacent land where guess what they grow. Yep all the export stuff.
Apparently, the various towns where this river goes through have got the highest cancer rate on the planet!
Am being serious now, I wouldn't want to touch that stuff believe you me, I wouldn't even have it for free.
Any Italians around that can confirm this?
just found a link

No idea - I've seen fields of unripe tomatoes in the north of Italy, which a few days later are red and ripe - apparently they spray them with a chemical to ripen them. A trip to the local canning factory, where all these tomatoes turn up reveals that they can for many diffrent brands including UK ones - I can't confirm whether diffrent tomatoes go into diffrent brand's cans, but I can say that they come out of the same canning plant - they do fruit too. The locals won't touch them, even the ones that fall off the lorries at the side of the road, but then they only eat home grown.
Here's a link about the river - http://faculty.ed.umuc.edu/~jmatthew/naples/sarno.html0 -
So which canned tomatoes are ok to eat ?? How do you know which ones are grown whereFreedom is not worth having if it does not include the freedom to make mistakes.0
