Hello
This is my first post as have only just joined a few days ago and really need some advice please.
I am 8 months pregnant with our first child and £16000 in debt. I have finally spoke to my husband about the situation just before xmas as I dont think he realised just how bad the situation was. Thankfully he was very understanding and didnt hit the roof which is what i was expecting.
We decided to apply for a loan of £15000 from tesco as we have had loans from them before, unfortunatley we got a letter back declining our application. I wrote and appealed the decision but again got another letter saying no basically.
I have got a copy of mine and my husbands credit file which looks fine to me, although I have had problems in the past they dont seem to be showing on the file any more.
I would really appreciate any help or suggestions that anyone has to help me start to deal with this situation as im at my wits end and crying as I write this as I cannot believe I have got me and my family into this situation as its all my fault.
Kind Regards
MBNA Credit Card £14000
Barclaycard £1000
Bank Of Scotland Credit Card £1000

Hi there, and welcome to the board, Kirkintilloch, that's a place I know very well, I used to live there (15 years ago on Rose street near the coop, I think it may be Sainsburys now
).
If you post a full SOA (incomings and outgoings)debt APR etc, and we will see what we can do for you.
You have made a good decision acknowledging your debts, but try and not worry too much,
look forward to seeing your SOA.

Firstly, you've accepted that this has happened and how it happened, so please stop beating yourself up. You can't go back, but you can move forward with the help of the people here. The first thing they will say is to post up your SOA so they can have a look at how to help. Include how much you owe and interest rates if you can.
You have a baby coming which is a wonderful thing but also means tears will come very easily at the moment

Good luck with everything, and I'm sure the 'experts' on here will really help you feel alot better about the whole situation, they're fantastic!

Total Outgoings £1136.60

I have put comments in the above.
Food, Car Tax, Car servicing holidays etc should be included on your SOA in order to obtain a fuller picture.
What is the balance of the barclaycard and the limit? and how long is remaining on the 0%?
Well done though for getting your SOA up so quickly.
I thought it was Sainsburys, I used to live in the flats near there. Kirkintilloch is lovely, I loved it, but we got re-located with OH job so we moved over the border.
I hope you do not think some of the things mentioned in the SOA are harsh, on the initial glance you would think £500+ remaining, but with food, petrol etc taken in account, I don't think there would be that much that.
A spending diary is a great way of checking your daily spending, it has helped me a lot to see where my money is going.
I hope this helps a wee bit

Ah, I got lost in Kirkintilloch recently.. friend was trying to drive home from glasgow and wanted to take a 'short cut'

First things first, if you can (if you are not still 'in contract') vhange the mobie,s I know O2 has a few free sims on offer that give 500txts per month if you top it up with £15 per month, that would save you £55.
You should probably put in the minimum repayments as well; they do constitute a part of outgoings and will give some f the others a better idea of where you stand
And get rid of sky; it's a luxury, and can watch Setana at a local pub usually

The barclaycard is at its limit and the 0% runs out in July
I am just thankfull for any advice that you can give me. Our fuel is about £150 per month and I spend as little on food as possible.0 -
I meant to say about the minimum repayments
MBNA £300 per month and that is roughly what the interest each month also
Barclaycard is about £30 per month
Halifax is about £30 per month.
All these cards are at there limit now, I was taking money out of the cards by cash to make the repayments, I havent actually paid them with any of my own money for about 6 months now.0 -
Hi MRS T
Glad you managed to get signed up okay, and well done on posting your SOA.
I think people have already picked up on the things I would have mentioned, but I would also have a look into ways of increasing your income - even the odd £10 or £20 a month will pay for the nappies. There are sites like Quidco and Pogsback, where you can earn either cash (which you can have paid directly into your bank, or a Paypal account), or earn points to buy things like store vouchers. There are also online surveys, although I find it's a bit slow going, getting enough to be worth withdrawing.
I wont overwhelm you with loads of info about them now, but when you are ready, type 'quidco' or 'pigsback' into the forum search at the top (search the forums, not the main site), and there are quite a few threads about both.
Also have a look on the 'Up Your Income' board for other ideas.
It IS possible to have a baby without getting into lots of debt, especially if you stick around here - I had a baby 8 months ago (seems like only a few weeks ago ), and have managed to continue decreasing our debt through my maternity leave, thanks to things I have picked up on this site.
Good luck, and congratulations on your pregnancy.
We have a little tradition on here that you have to post and let us know when you are in labour, by the way!
