2 weeks ago I sat here in bits not knowing what the heck to do with my mess of a life.
I first came to MSE forums with a tentative enquiry about selling my house and renting it back on the housing forum and a lovely person Dolce Vita advised me to come to the DFW forum and you MSEs have turned out the biggest source of support I have ever encountered.
Within 10 minutes of me posting my sorry SOA I was taken gently by the hand and led to a virtual door that said 'Take control of your money'. With a full set of instructions on how to open that door, I went through it and started a seemingly impossible journey.
For the next 6 or more hours I had so many people, all total strangers, who spared me their time, their patience, their understanding, their knowledge, lots of kind words and their wonderful advice.
I feel like I have walked a million miles since then and each step has been taken with the support of you all.
All of my creditors have been told 'Sorry chick, £1 a month from now on' - 3 have already said - 'Ok, look forward to getting it' - 1 said 'Dream on love' and I have yet to hear from the others.
Had someone told me 2 weeks and a day ago that I would be sitting here feeling ok about my future I would have laughed and then carried on crying
I want you all to know how WONDERFUL I think you all are - typing words is easy I know but you really have made a massive difference to my life, you'll never really know how much. I hope that one day I may be able to help someone like you have all helped me, I truly appreciate all the help and kind words I have had.

I found this post real touching, or though I read your original post, I felt for you, but didn't reply as I hadn't been in such a bad place, but felt confident others who had would come to your rescue. So glad to hear what a positive effect it has had for you, and that you know know where the reigns of control lay.19th March 2007 LBM£5,969.63 1st January 2018 £5960.18, 1st January 2019 £11,032.0018th August 2023 £12,435.00, Student Loan £22244.00 From 2009-12Challenges: To learn to stop spending..0

All the best and my, you have been brave! :T
There will be downs as well as ups but you know people will always be here with ideas, sound advice and if nothing else - someone with time just to talk things through.
I wish I had come across this site before I sold my home to settle quite modest (by some standards!) debts of £5,000.
Just saving like a good 'un for my next place...woo!If you do what you've always done, you'll get what you've always got.

Hi NTSI!! My LBM was in 2003/4. I didn't find this site (and then get the hang of the forums! I am a total techy thicko!) until Aug 07.
03/04; OH with V Serious illness, business just been shafted for a big sum and other stuff on top. My life was collapsing around my ears very quickly!
I didn't have a diagnosed depression or anything, but the misery makes one "not quite right".....do you know what I mean????
I,m really glad that the support has helped you..............just one person taking the time to say a small thing can really lift the mood in a down moment.
I find this board an invaluable source of little bits of info + I, felt previously, that it was ONLY us that were in a mess!!
I felt bad at uprooting the kids (we had to re-locate and rent out our family home) and just was overwhelmed with a feeling of maternal guilt plus "superwoman" failure.
We are still 12 months away from DF (as the whole credit crunch stuff has really impacted on my business..we were meant to be Debtfree in Feb 2008).
I don't know about you, but this site has helped me understand about how the whole loan / credit / banking industry works. We often used to look for a solution to our money issues in a modern (ie; credit) way.
Now I'm becoming Old Style in more ways than one!!!
And you know what, it's not so bad !!!:D0
