US Airways Upgrades on eBay

Hi,

First of all hello to everyone and thanks for letting me join this forum. I have been saving money for years now and holiday are a bit of a hobby for me so most of my posts will be in this forum. Though today I am asking for help hopefully one day soon I will be able to offer it too.

My question for today is taht I hav seen on eBay a number of people selling upgrade vouchers for US Airways. The vary in price but £30 is usualy enough to gain a one way upgrade voucher. Has anyone bought and used one of these? They seem too good to be true and in my book when it comes to eBay that means it is.

Mmmmmm, had a look and to me it looks pretty suspicious.

First of all the seller's feedback is 'private' do they have something to hide ? Also, their opening line

'you are bidding for a white envelope' is enough to put me off.

I may be a bit cynical, but I would be staying clear of it, but I am willing to be proven wrong by someone who has bought one.

I think you'll find that this is because the T&Cs relating to the issuing of such vouchers will specifically forbid you from selling them on (same applies with award flights from airmiles). So the expensive white envelope is just an attempt to get round this rule, since you obviously aren't paying for the voucher itself ;)

I cannot believe this has not generated more discussion, it does seem almost too good to be true. Could you share how you actually use the pass and how easy/diificult it is ?
Do you use the 'travel agent only' sites suggested?

    Many thanks

My dad purchased two last year and used them in November returning from PHL to MAN. He had no problems in using them and he DID get upgraded.
