Why don't buyers email first....

I've been looking at my sales records for this year and I have had a total of 2980 transactions, no negs, and 10 neutrals. All my DSR's are either 4.8 or 4.9 so nothing to stress over about them.

- 3 of those neutrals were from one buyer who was not happy with a 3 day delivery time on a 4kg parcel.
- 1 received the wrong size but did not ask me to replace it,
- 1 simply said "ok" (but they left a neutral and "ok" for every seller before they were NARU'd)
- 1 took an unpaid dispute and 2 weeks to pay then left a neutral less than 36 hours after I received ther payment!
- 2 have said the item worked, but was not in pristine condition. (6 year old DVD's sold for £1.99 inc postage!) Neither contacted me to discuss a replacement or refund.
- 2 have said the item was damaged in the post, but again did not contact me to replace.

As they have left non-positive feedback, this could potentially affect my Seller Performance Rating, and in my opinion the feedback is the final step in the transaction so these buyers are not interested in resolving a small problem. For each of these transactions I have left a negative comment, along the lines of "poor communication, unwilling to discuss problems"; as far as I am concerned, it is a negative selling experience for me.

In 4 of the cases this has prompted the buyer to start emailing me and sending the Mutual Withdrawal Requests. Why could they have not have emailed BEFORE leaving feedback? It would save me a neutral and them a negative. I have told each of them that the transaction is over as they have left their feedback and made their choices and I don't do mutual withdrawals.

One of them is still pestering me 3 months on - it amazes me that they are so efficient with emailing when they seemed incapable beforehand.

    In a word, TSFE.

    Well four words really.

10 idiots out of nearly 3,000 is only 0.33% so you are doing ok.
  • if you have stated a return policy on your listing or what buyers should do if they are unhappy with the item - you really have done all you can.

don't take it personally your record is very good.
  • Sorry to ask but what does NARUd and TSFE mean?

I am not that old but find all of these terms confusing!
(Also, DH, OH (other half?) leave me thinking for a while. Is there a glossary anywhere?

  • This is why I make a habit of reading feedback for a seller before I bid on something, if the feedback shows the buyers to be !!!!!! then I ignore the dodgy feedback & bid anyway.

  • A few neutrals in your feedback wouldn't worry me as they still count towards the positive total and don't change the %.

I have received only one negative from a seller who refused to answer emails, listed an item as a particular brand and when received it was a completely different brand and an inferior one at that. They didn't respond til I left a neutral and got a negative in return.

I think I had only one neutral prior to that and it didn't affect my rating or sales in any way.
