eBay, Ugg Boots, Chinese Fake Sellers?

Options
There seems to be a lot of separate threads about this at the moment, people getting their accounts hacked with sellers of Ugg boots. People buying Ugg Boots from eBay and not receiving them. Well......

I bought a pair a couple of days ago from a UK seller with 100% feedback and have just received an email from eBay confirming the seller's account had been 'used without their permission' and the auction had been pulled and not to pay if you haven't already etc, etc...

I already paid through paypal (back up funds from my bank account) and it was a Chinese email address. I've emailed the seller (some hope, lol)....and reported the problem. I've been reading through some of the other 'getting money back from paypal' threads and am not really sure where I stand??

Just thought it would be an idea to have a new thread on this, as it looks as if it's becoming a bit of a problem.

Gutted re boots too : (

  • Ebay is chockablock with fake goods.

    Nike, Gucci, etc.

I would never buy any brand name fashionable item off ebay, a lot of the people selling the fakes are powersellers who ebay do not touch.

Fake trainers and handbags are plentiful in China and can cost anything as low as £10.

I think your next step is either open a paypal dispute or contact paypal and tell them you were victim to a fraud and see what they say

  • The auction was for Authentic Ugg Boots sold by a UK seller. It was a well written selling description with several photos detailing all the things you look for in the genuine UGG Australia boots. I read a few forums re this before I decided to buy them and although they were cheap, they weren't THAT cheap. The auction seemed credible, so it didn't seem too good to be true. I checked the Purchases very early this morning and around 30 other people had bought them also. A couple of hours later, the auction has been pulled by eBay.

The point I was making is that genuine UK eBay accounts seem to be getting hacked by Chinese sellers to sell UGG boots. It has been mentioned a couple of times in other threads. Just didn't want others to make the same mistake....and would be thankful for a bit of advice re whether I'm likely to get my money refunded by paypal.

tsk - them pesky PowerSellers. They're all fraudsters don't you know! Are you Nicky Campbell in disguise?!!:rotfl:

eBay DO touch PowerSellers, it's just that they have a higher allowance of defaults than ordinary sellers.
Additionally, violations of any eBay policies may result in the loss of PowerSeller status. The following limits apply:

    · Bronze 4 violations in a 60-day period
    · Silver/Gold 5 violations in a 60-day period
    · Platinum 6 violations in a 60-day period
    · Titanium 7 violations in a 60-day period

Who said they were ALL fraudsters.

Ebay do not touch ALL powersellers, when I report dodgy items the powerseller items are often overlooked and the items sold by less established users are tugged which is utter B@LL@(K$.

You didn't buy them from my account did you as on the 27th this is what happened to my account. Luckily I noticed it just before I went to bed. It took 2 hours to sort out and was indeed hacked by someone in China as they changed my ebay password and email address. Luckily noticed it because ebay send a notice of password change. So, my account was 100% positive and I think I'll be ok. How one earth do they do it?

I think you will get your money back via Paypal as it was a fraudulent transaction. If not, what do eBay say about it all. Must be a nightmare. Try contacting live help which is on teh ebay.com front welcome page at teh top tight corner.

    Good luck!

Ebay show far too much leniency towards powersellers. I've seen powersellers who sell nothing but copied material on cds that infringe on copyright laws.

All they do is write a disclaimer on the listing that the material is in the public domain and ebay look the other way.

    Thanks.

eBay got back to me this morning, they seem to think the UK seller I 'bought' the boots from, probably responded to a fake eBay email and gave the Chinese fraudsters their passwords to be able to hack their account etc...

I've reported it all to paypal, and part of that process involved sending a message to the real seller (Chinese name). I wasn't expecting a reply, but got one this morning in comedy English (bless 'em) telling me the boots have been sent, be patient, Happy New Year (lol)....

Fingers crossed re paypal refund etc :o
