Applying for Credit Cards I have already have

Options
Hello,

I am looking for a new 0% balance transfer credit card to transfer my current balance over to and when I have looked around it seems that the best long term 0% cards are ones that I have had about two years ago. I was wondering if I would be able to apply for them and get the 0% offers that they advertise?

Many Thanks,
Kathryn

  • Had you cancelled them? If so you should be fine after 2 years - most seem to be ok to reapply after 6-12 months.

If you havent cancelled them then you wouldnt be able to do as you ask
  • I cancelled them to transfer the balance onto a new card so it sounds as though I would be able to reapply.

Thank you for your help :rotfl:

Nationwide won't let you have two bites of the cherry...
...any introductory rate or offer is not available if you have previously held a Nationwide credit card with an introductory rate or offer.

Everyone else seems OK with it, ranging from Capital One (almost) immediately to Halifax/M&S after 30 days to Egg after 12 months.
  • Thank you very much! I will have to scout around on their websites!
  • Yorkshire boy, just checking cos it seems to good to be true :) and so alarm bells are ringing that I've just not understood you properly. I have currently an M&S card which I really like for the vouchers but I'm coming to the end of the 0%. If I cancel at the end of the 0% and reapply in March I can get the six months 0% all over again? This would be ideal for me....

You can tell I'm a good MS because I worry if it looks too good to be true :)

That was my experience just over a year ago, and it was also confirmed to me recently by M&S when I called to ask them. I'm not closing my own card just yet, because it has a good limit and I'm trying to bag a 0% fee-free BT retention offer (something they were known to do a while ago).

Re your own situation, at 0.5% (for non-M&S spends) there are far better cashback/reward cards available.

Slight deviation - YorkshireBoy would you keep us updated as to how you get on with this. I also have an M&S card that has a decent limit and has been 'idle' for a few months.
