Give Shelter a call (brb with no.)

Also ring the court and see if you can find out what happened re: the possesion order.

Here we go. They do get incredibally busy so you may have to sit on the phone on redial. Meanwhile look round their site and get as much info as possible.

  • Hugs hugs for you as this must be very scary for you all. Have you got in contact with CAB/shelter as suggested? Are you behind on other payments? It may also be worth you contacting CCCS/payplan re general financial advice if you have other debts. Keep posting & remember that people here understand what its like to be in debt. Hugs for you & let us know what we can do to help...

  • Turn up at the court whatever happens, see if you can get CAB support at the court - certainly get legal support from the court solicitor. You will possibly be allowed more time by the court to sort out alternative accomodation -eg tell them that you cannot see council until later. Not sure of all the legalities but they may allow extra time especially as you had no prior warning.

hi I know you said the first you knew of it was the letter that came through your door , but what did you try and do from the point when you couldnt pay the first mortgage payment up untill the fourth payment now?. were you offered advice /suggestions?support? Its situations like these that their should be information etc as a lot of people struggle and need advice . I totally feel for you this situation that you are in especially with having such young children and right after Christmas. How did you get to this point with your home?. Have you been struggling with all the costs of living etc, bills etc. I just dont know how these matters work I am afraid . If you had been able to get up to date with payments , would you and your family have been ok ?. It just doesnt seem fair, I know in black & white the banks want money , but it is not fair for us mere mortals when sometimes circumstances etc prevent us from keeping up for whatever reason that our homes are threatened in uk everything is dear.

Major big hugs to you xxxxxxxx

I would suggest you take the letter into your local branch (if the mortgage is with a bank/building society) and sit there until someone sees you who can explain how they have gone for reposession and not told you before now? You will get no where on the phones, but might get some help this way.

Do you have any money you could take with you in cash to offer to stop the reposession? Can you borrow anything short term from family members to help with this?

And now for a harsh bit, has one of you been hiding the post from the other, so that one of you DID know but hoped it would all go away? It is very unusual (but not unheard of) for you not to have letters saying first off please get your account up to date, then harsher ones, and then ones threatening court action? So if there have been none of these, then go to court and say so
