Where's the cheapest place to buy kitchen base units and worktops?
I'm not after doors or appliances, just the base units themselves. B&Q seem a bit steep but i get 20% off anyway because i know someone who works there (always V handy)
his crewcard number is....

I went to ikea cash in hand to buy a complete kitchen. i went up the assistant, gave them my plans, dimensions etc. I explained that the shape of my kitchen didn't match anything in their kitchen planner software.
their response was 'sorry if its not in the program, we can't help'.
what a waste of a journey. customer service is non existant so they lost my sale there and then.
Drove straight to B&Q and booked their kitchen planner who will turn up on monday.
I was just trying a backup plan to see if anyone knows any cheap kitchen suppliers0 -
Don’t buy from IKEA. Their cabinets fit flush to the wall, taking no account for pipes and electrics. There should be a gap behind!
My dads a very good kitchen fitter and he curses them for it0 -

Sorry - I don't agree with the comment above about Ikea kitchen units. We had our kitchen fully refitted last year with Ikea units, using our own installer (recommended by a friend). He said that he always encourages people to chose Ikea units because they are much better value for money than the big DIY store ones.
As far as fitting flush to the wall is concerned. The advantage if this is more storage space inside the cupboards. Also, is was apparently quite easy for him to drill holes in the sides of the base units for pipes to go through. This was a big bonus when we had a minor leak in a joint as it could be accessed and fixed from inside the cupboard. The alternative would have been to remove the back of the cupboard - a much bigger job.
Incidentally, we also fitted solid granite worktops, using a company called Diapol (excellent value for money) and Neff appliances, so we now have a fantastic luxurious looking (quite big) kitchen for under £5000 - all in!0 -

Wickes have cheap take away kitchens - from about £20 for a unit, and they also have the ones with the planner which are reasonably priced.0

I would also recommend Ikea units, really cheap and very solidly made and a pleasure to put together.
I you have any electical points below the worktop these can be accomodated as the drawers do not fill the carcass completely. Also snap on doors and easy fit hinges.
