How often do you go away and how many people travelling? If you're a regular traveller it may make sense to get an annual policy... if not, a single-trip plan would suffice.
Have a read of this article if you haven't already - follow the links to external comparison sites:

I would be asking myself; Do I need travel insurance for a one night stay in the EU?
Get a UK Medical Card ( formerly E11), that will cover any emergency medical help, should the need arise.
All a bit of a chance I know, but I personally would risk it.0 -
Or if you have a credit card that offers free insurance book the flights using that and you should get cover. Out of interet I just put numbers into the comparative tool at moneysupermarket and there were several quotes for under £5

Go through Quidco and try the post office this will cost less than a tenner and you will get most of it back and basically the cost of insurance will work out around £3-4 pound at most.. have a look i would recommend it and to save money if you arent taking baggage remove it from the options.:hello: Lets all save a £ or two, lets all earn a £ or two, and lets all enjoy spending that £ or two wisely.

The EHIC doesn't include for repatriation so doesn't cover 'ANY emergency medical help'.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

And if you are badly injured you may not be in a position to choose which hospital you are taken to - you may find that 'foreigners' will be taken to a private fee-paying hospital.
If it's under a fiver it's a no-brainer.0 -
It's all about risk, for one night in Spain, I would take the chance, nobody is forced to follow my advice.;)0
