Anglo Irish's 1 year term offers the same rate but without the awkward expiry date (if opened now of course!).

The 19th December is a Friday in 2008. Its likely to be the 24th before the money is transferred to a current account. With Christmas/Boxing day making it a four day weekend it'll be the 31st December or 2nd January before the money is safely in new bond or the likes of Icesave or ICICI.
