What can I buy someone who likes fishing?

My uncle is just the hardest person in the world to buy for. I know he likes fishing and coffee.
So I'm going to buy him some nice ground coffee and something fishy!
Maximum £25-30 he's the sort of fisherman that fishes at a local lake and throws them back in if that means anything
I was thinking of a magazine sub but there'e so many titles and i don't understand what they mean!

Are you looking for one big thing, or for hamper makings?
One of those reuseable handwarmers can be useful (you 'click' it to activate, then usually microwave to reset it). Also, good quality polarising sunglasses, fingerless gloves (but proper grippy ones - not granny's home-knits), a camera (dispoable or cheap digi) to record triumphs and the 'one that got away', a voucher for the local tackle shop, one of those water proof boxes for keys and phone (in travel sections of shops), maybe even that little flotation device (waterbuoy I think) that was on Dragons Den this week (hubby already has one of those on his list for his annual kit restock, lol).
For reading matter, there's a book called 101 fishing tips (or something like that) on the Book People website - not just how to, but silly stories etc - for 3.99, and hubby says a good all round magazine is Improve Your Course Fishing - the sub equates to £3 a month (can be paid in quarters, annually etc), and often comes with a freebie of some sort.
If you do want to pick up some kit - unless you know exactly what he's going for, line, hooks and floats probably aren't a good way to go, but you can never have too many disgorgers, and also little general things like scissors, small forceps, bait tubs, shot (comes in little multi-section dispensers), small swivels (don't ask me, I'm just typing what hubby says), a tin of hemp seed and a basic swiss army style knife would all be useful.DFW Nerd no. 884 - Proud to [strike]be dealing with[/strike] have dealt with my debts0 -
chip pan?
Sorry. Couldn't resist.
I did have the misfortune to go shopping with a fisherman once, for a special chair.. I think it was a carp chair. Apparently fish are picky about the style choices of who catches them. Or it might be that this chair sits low to the ground, so the fisherman doesn't cast a shadow/can't be seen by the wily fish. So there is quite a bit more than just picking something out .... nutters all of them... better to have a drinking habit and at least sit in a warm pub.
Good luck finding something he's pleased with.0 -

I take it he is a coarse fisherman? Roach, bream, small carp etc!
Or does he do overnighters?
If he is a coarse fisherman then a hand warmer is a good suggestion if he fishes in the cold alot.
Perhaps a decent coffee flask?
If he is anything like me he'll have everything he needs but there will be things he wants. But only he'll know what they are!
Maybe a decent set of wellies or boots?
If he is a carp fisherman and does overnight fishing then it's a whole new ball game! :j0 -
not being a angler but how about a years fishing license ( if you still need one)0

My OH went to a fishing shop the other day. He chucks them back in too. He was gazing at floats (cheap orange stick type things) and little pretty fishes that you put somewhere.
I too have to go to fishing shop, chuck some money at them and ask them to give me some stocking fillers. This does work, he has been delighted in the past. New carp chair also in hiding as we speak.
Confess to ignorance in the shop and you get more help than you can cope with.
Good luck0 -

Wow! So glad I asked! I really didn't even know where to start!
He used to do overnighters but now he gets up really early and comes home really late, southern scouserthanks. I think I recognise those fish names to.
I hadn't really considered a hamper but it would be perfect with the coffee really if I get a flask etc which ties it in with the outdoor theme. I'm going to work my way through the list now, see what I end up with!
thanks guys and girlsEverything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
