Hi, I was wondering if anyone can recommend a digital camera for up to £210 please.
It has to be a digital compact.
I normally get something from the Canon Ixus range and have previously have owned the IXUS 400,500 and 700 all which i have been happy with and liked the styling.
However I recently got the IXUS 75 and its going back because of 2 main points.
1. The 3 Inch display just seems too grainy specifically at night time indoors. I cant remember my other camera's having the same problem in the same lighting conditions, however they only had 1.5inch and 2inch screens. Is this normal is 3inch camera screens or is it jus the camera.
2. The pictures seem too soft and not sharp enough for my liking. I read some reviews and seen some mention this
Basically i'm disappointed in it and need anther camera. Seems Canon's new offerings don't seem to be as good as their previous models so im stumped as i may need to consdier something other than a Canon.
Thanks

I got a fuji finepix F50 fd the other day, at 12mp, the picture quality should be brilliant for you, and the screen is a good size. Plenty of shooting modes, face recognition, software red-eye removal, its brilliant! I paid £199.00 from Curry's Digital, so should be within budget, can get them cheaper from a few places but i needed one there and then.0

I would recommend the following (even though it is another Canon!)
Canon IXUS 860 IS Digital Camera - Silver (8.0MP, 3.8x Optical Zoom) 3.0 LCD
Currently £206.99 from Amazon.
I have just got one and it is excellent - also bought a 4gb SDHC memory card for £18 (also from Amazon)
I would definitely recommend this camera but look at the reviews yourself and see what you think.0 -
Can you not change the sharpness level on the Ixus, Millionaire?
I'd narrow down your choices using www.dpreview.com it's an excellent site and very comprehensive.0 -
throwing my hat into the ring i;d suggest:

I think the Ricoh (last link) one could be good.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -
Don't get hung up on Mega Pixels, it's not an indicator of image quality.
Canon make very good cameras usually. Do you want something similar to the ixus cameras, i.e a point and shoot you can slip in your pocket or something a bit more sophisticated but larger? Canon's Powershot range tend to offer more functions than the ixus models.
The S5 IS is a great bridge camera but for similar money you can get something like the Fujifilm s8000fd with an 18x zoom. If you want something smaller how about a Canon Powershot A720 IS? There are also some good bridge cameras in the Pansonic range like the FZ8 & FZ18. Also they do the TZ3 which is a lovely point and shoot with a 10x zoom for around £180-200.It's my problem, it's my problem

If you can stretch the budget, try the Panasonic DMC-TZ3. We bought one for our holiday in September and it is fantastic. 7MP, 10x optical, robust build, Leica lens and the best lcd screen I've seen. There is a setting for the lcd that makes it ultra bright which is just what you need if you are trying to take pics in bright sunshine.
You can even take widescreen shots and video. Loads of manual settings, or if you prefer (like me) plain point and click.
I think it has a smaller brother if it's out of budget.
Happy shopping.0 -
The TZ3 is well within the OP's budget, you cant get them for £170 now (according to pricerunner). It's a very nice camera too. It's my problem, it's my problem

Sorry for the late reply guys/gals. I had to sort something out last minute then when i got back the website was down.
I prefer point and shoot cameras that I only have to set the settings once and then don't have to worry about them again.
I've messed with the Ixus 75 settings but to no avail to getting the sharpness up.
I will look at all your suggestions then see where I am. Will be back later.0
