4Gb USB Flash Drive under £15

What's the deal?
Online store SVP is offering 4GB USB flash drives for £14.73 including delivery. This is the lowest price seen for this amount of storage space.
USB flash drives are effectively keys you stick in the back of your computer and save things on (pictures, videos, documents). Then you can carry your data with you to any other computer and load it there; like good ol' floppy disks, but this 4GB version has almost 3000 times more storage space.
Or more technically, they're a "removable, portable, piece of hardware that can be used to store files and allows easy transfer of those files to laptops and PCs."
How do I get one?
Simply go to the SVP website and add one to your basket. You'll need to change the number from 0 to 1. Make sure it's the 4GB drive you're picking if that's what you want as SVP is also selling a 2 GB drive for £7.99 plus delivery.
The 4GB drive shows as £12.98 excluding delivery on this page. When you reach checkout simply change the delivery charge to the small items option.
What if it goes down in price?
Plus it's worth keeping an eye on the SVP website if you've bought one as it has a price drop promise. If the shop reduces the price of something you've bought within a week of you ordering it then email them pointing out the reduction and you'll be refunded the difference.
What if they run out of stock?
As sometimes happens when something's been in the weekly email stock can run out due to demand. If that happens or you simply want to buy from a more well-known company then these are next cheapest (all include delivery):

I got the Play.com one on Saturday, havent tried it as its a stocking filler. Quick delivery though less than a week and I had some other items come at same time from them all individually packed0

The play one I believe is bytestor it looks exactly same as the Amazon sells at Price: £15.98

I have been using one of them for 6 months with no problems and its quick
Aldi also sell 4gb one for £170 -
FWIW as opposed to buying USB sticks I buy SD cards of the same size (costs the same, sometimes cheaper) and have a USB SD card reader that is the same physical size as a flash drive and only costs about £2.50.
USB thumb drives work great if you just want to store files from a computer but by using SD cards I can transfer files just as easily between my computers, my camera, my Wii, and my mobile phone

SVP is the best online retailer I use. They have a no-quibble returns policy anyway, nevermind if you find it cheaper elsewhere.
Personally, I find that the only use for such a big USB drive is if you need to use individual files more than 1GB in size, or you need instant access to enough data to fill at least half such a drive.
There's always a danger using such a large drive to store all your portable data. If it fails, you lose it all. Obviously you need to balance convenience with portability, but when possible, you should spread your data needs across multiple drives to minimise your exposure in the event of a failure.0 -

I looked at the link in the first post but ended up buying the 2GB for £7.74 delivered instead.
I think 2GB will be plenty for me!

Hi where did you buy your card reader from that costs £2.50. Looking for one for a SD card to transfer music on for our new hi-fi which has a memory slot (already got the SD card - just need the reader).0 -
