No Ticket Issued By Parking Attendant - Do I Have To Pay??

Hi all,I was parked at a hospital today and over ran my ticket by about 10 mins. As I got there the attendant was taking the deatils - entering my reg etc into his handheld thing. I drove away before he managed to issue the actual ticket - will this mean that I'm still liable for the fine or not? I have a feeling they have to take a photo of the ticket on the windscreen to make it valid, can anyone tell me if this is the case? Thanks!Maca

If this is a hospital (ie private) rather than a public car park they may well make their own rules - so maybe maybe not.

Read the signs and tell us what they say. Photo would be better. and are they prominantly displayed?

As it is private they won't care with formalities like photographing the ticket on the vehicle or even issuing the ticket. As far as they are concerned you transgressed the conditions, so they will invoice you.

As far as you should be concerned, you don't believe they have a leg to stand on and just ignore them.
  • Go back and read the parking regulations signs and also look at who runs/operates the car park.
    .....

  • Thanks for your replies - I think I may have given the wrong idea - it was actually a pay and display parking area outside the hospital, therefore run by the council...

Same answer, need to see the conditions.

ignore my "no leg to stand on comment" that only applies depending on what the conditions say. However I imagine the rule of the registered keeper is not responsible, only the driver is responsible for the fee. Will apply, and you are under no obligation to tell them who was driving.

The people who know this stuff the best are on pepipoo.org.uk

But we would appreciate an update if you ever do get an invoice and what you decide to do.

Have a look on the recent thread about ASDA car parks, you're probably best to focus on my posts that actually deal with the legality (or illegality if being pedantic) of charges issued by private car park enforcement companies and ignore the ones that suggest you should "just pay up."
