Hiya folks,
Just got this via email and thought it might be of use to some folks - book by 20th October. I've just copied and pasted the email as it was easier to do this will the full terms and conditions.
Book by this Saturday, 20 October, and SAVE 50% off your rail tickets when you book online
Today, First ScotRail is celebrating the third anniversary of the franchise, which began on 17 October 2004.
Given the importance of such an event, this seemed an opportune moment to let you, as an existing First ScotRail customer, know how we are doing AND to offer you a little something back to thank you for your previous custom.
So, how are we performing....? Here are some headlines to reflect our achievements to date......
So, here's to the next 12 months......

Edit - wonder if this would work with the cheap family rail cards too which are listed on another thread - might be worth a try and can someone post if successful. I don't have one but it's a thought.
Edit - date has been extended until the 21st due to the technical difficulties they have had with the site (details sent to me via email about 10 mins ago).

- The last 12 months have been highly successful for First ScotRail and we continue to go from strength to strength. Passenger numbers have increased by 5% compared to last year, and by 15% since the start of the franchise.
- Our Public Performance Measure, a combination of punctuality and reliability, was a record best single period high for the franchise between July and August with a figure of 93.2% and was also the best in eight years.
- Delays caused by First ScotRail have fallen by some 32% in the last two and a half years, this is compared to our franchise commitment of 2% per year.
- Finally, Scotland's railways are safer than ever with overall crime down by 6%, particularly impressive when you consider the increase passenger numbers, now sitting at 78 million journeys per year.

Thank you for this. I took advantage last time they did it and saved a fortune. Some of their spin does amuse me though:
"Passenger numbers have increased by 5%" - I wonder how many of those are standing?
"Delays caused by First ScotRail have fallen by some 32% in the last two and a half years" - I wonder how many services they have timetabled to take longer so that there is less chance of them being classed as "delayed"?Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0 -
Is anyone else having probs booking this offer as when i get to payment and put it in it then comes back with ' unable to process your request at this time'
0 -
Yes. i have tried 3 times and had the same message - Unable to process at this time. I have rung Scotrail and they siad they are aware of the problem and to keep trying over the next few days.0

I just went for a look thanks OP. You can't use a railcard with this promotion.Anyone who lives within their means suffers from a lack of imagination:beer:

Finally got around to using the link and I got the following message:
"We are currently experiencing some difficulties with the web booking system and this promotion is not currently available. We are working to resolve the difficulties, and apologise for any inconvenience caused."
Perhaps there's been so many bookings, we've broken it!0 -
They pulled the promotion yesterday apparently (according to posts on hotukdeals) as it was meant for people who were emailed with the offer only.0
-
Oh shame - last time it was for everyone. I have an account with Scotrail (I book all my train tickets with them as loyalty from their last offer) and I didn't get an email, but perhaps I ticked the "no spam" box.Time is an illusion - lunch time doubly so.0

I received the email and have been trying to book tickets for the last 24 hours. Their helpline confirmed there was a problem they were trying to fix and I should keep trying. So with the payment screen showing the correct half price fare, I kept trying every 30 mins or so to get my payment authorised. Around lunchtime today I managed to complete the transaction, but on the confirmation screen it gave the total price paid as the full price, not the 50% discounted price shown on the previous screen.
I await my credit card statement with interest to see if I am going to be charged the full fare.0 -
Hi!
It looks like the online booking system has been fixed - I've just booked some tickets.

I have just this second booked and the 50% came off. Had been yesterday but was not working.0
