Has anyone come across the following:
http://www.freshdevices.com/freshdown.html
Which apparently speeds up your download speed.
Thanks in advance

Don't waste your time on imitations. just get the best download manager here.
I have used Flashget for years and it simply does exactly what it says on the tin.
:doh: Blue text on this forum usually signifies hyperlinks, so click on them!..:wall:0 -
Hmm the only advantage to it is that you can pause a download and restart, thus saving yourself the time and effort of redownloading. It also changes the number of HTTP connections from the registry default of two to 8
However, I can say that the fresh group of software products aren't bad value ie free, and the company doesn't spam you into oblivion,
In the old days when dial up was the norm is was a god send, but as broadband has become more prevalent, it isn't quite as an essential piece of softwareDon't waste your time on imitations. just get the best download manager here.
espresso has given you a suitable alternative, but they do exactly the same thing0 -
You can tweak all the settings you have described using either FireFox or Opera0

I second espresso's Flashget. It's also my default download manager."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

I've tried almost all of them over the years. But cannot find a better free one than Orbit Downloader not only because it's as light & effective as the others, but it's got many more features - like being able to download Youtube videos, streaming media, etc. G0

How do these kind of things work exactly? Do you have to do all your downloading/browsing using their program, or is the program just open in the background making things like internet explorer download faster?0 -
i havent tried one on BB, but on dial up i used one.
im yet to be convinced its worth it. there again its fairly rare for me to DL anything bigger than a few mb.Get some gorm.0 -

Ok I vaguely understand how they work, but how do I use them? ie in the background?
Sorry I'm not very technically minded about these kind of things!0
