Found free help with getting used to new Office 2007 interface.

Just bought a new computer pre-loaded with Vista.

Used Office Word the other night to 'quickly' edit and finish off a piece of homework for my daughter..... Yeah right!
My unfamiliarity with the new interface meant I found myself losing my beauty sleep (and some of us desperately need it more than others I can assure you! :rotfl: ) Had to stay up to 3 am to finally get it completed properly! Never again!!!!

Just found this website if anyone is interested? Helpful for those, like me, who are struggling to get themself up to speed on the new office interface for Word, Excel and Powerpoint.
HTH someone :D I found it helpful.

Found an even better one! Covers Vista OS as well as Office 2007 suite.

    Look.............http://www.learnthat.com/computers/

(The previous one is very basic compared to this, the more advanced stuff you had to subscribe, but the site above appears to offer a great deal more for free :D)

<Rant> I have to say that since they "upgraded" my work PC from Office 2003 to Office 2007, my productivity has fallen. I knew where everything was on 2003 and it's like learning to ride a bike for a second time. I've asked them to un-upgrade me back to 2003 but they won't.

Can't stand the interface, and can't stand the fact that it crashes every time I do anything complicated. </Rant>

Aaaaw! So sorry to hear you are having such problems Hazzanet!
Really annoying isn't it?......That we're all being forced to upgrade especially when as happy as you are with the older version.

Hope things get easier soon and that your productivity takes on new heights once you have readjusted.

At the moment I am struggling with the sharing files function. I do exactly what the instructions say via help tips and the sited websit,e but it still comes back with message 'this file cannot be shared' can't figure out why this would be so?!!

I am going to persevere, but if don't solve it soon will have to post on the techie stuff board to see if some kind soul can turn the light on for me!:o

How much did this cost you and where did you get it? If you don't mind me asking superscraper?

Have activated my trial version and so need to make plans for when it runs out!:D

Ask to go on a training course for it, then if they refuse they can't come back at you if it's affecting your productivity.

Pluss the added stress you must be under.

Ironically they've upgraded office to 2007, and at the same time, I've still got Internet Explorer 6 on the same machine - go figure.

I might ask for that training course, although I don't think it's going to help the fact that I just dislike the ribbon bar way of doing things.

Ah well. I still have Word 2000 and Excel 97 opn my machine at home :D

I quite like the ribbon interface, in this era of tabbed browsing and tabbed docks it feels like it fits in as an interface. Any change will take some time to get used to. I remember having to change from Acorn Impression to MS Word. Took a while to get used to, doesn't mean I should still now be using Impression.

Understood - I used Pendown myself on an Acorn, and ProText on an Amstrad CPC well before PC's became the mainstay. I was brought up on command line computers, so for some complex things, even now, I drop to a DOS box and issue commands that way, but that doesn't mean that Windows has no uses (although when they upgraded the work PC from Windows 2000 to XP, the first thing I did was change it the windows classic theme and disable the themes service which left the IT bods scratching their heads ;) )

My issue here is that I feel that the Office 2007 'upgrade' isn't much more than a change of interface, and there's not much more that it can do that I couldn't in Office 2003. It just seems a little unnecessary as Office 2003 did everything I needed it to :)

    Ah well... progress eh?
