Looking for travel advice/suggestions for my parents

Good Morning,

My parents aged 60, are looking to go on holiday, they have never been abroad on holiday, have been going to St Andrews, scotland for the last 40 years. whilst looking at holidays.. I was thinking Rome, Paris, perhaps New york although i was nervous of suggesting that, my Mum announced that she would like to go to Dubai !!!

First problem though is that my Mum hasnt been keeping very
well and was in hospital last month as a day case patient getting Cardioversion (this where they alter the speed of your heart back to a normal rate, as opposed to racing constantly, with an electric shock type thing). So she would have to disclose all the details and meds to travel insurance company, what's the likelyhood that this will be excluded from any policy?? If it was excluded then the surely it wouldn't be wise to go anywhere outside europe? By the way she is still waiting for the all clear from the hospital to say she can come off the meds. Should get an appointment within a month.

Can anyone suggest somewhere stunning to go, that I can then suggest to them to break them into going abroad a bit more easily... not so much of a culture difference etc??

thanks in advance.

  • Why not Costa Blanca, Spain?

Weather in fairly nice all year round and my In-Laws..(in a few years will be 60) love going there and believe it or not alot of older folks go there and say they feel alot better (health wise) when they go there ;)
There are alot of Brits in Spain so speaking english isn't that big an issue so they shouldn't have to much of a problem specially in a touristy type area :)
Also, if anything should happen to one your parents and they need to fly home..it's alot closer than NY or Dubai ;)

You can call for pre-clearance for travel insurance before committing to a holiday. The company will either say yes at normal or a higher rate or no with no obligation in advance.
What time of year are they thinking of-and what kind of activities do they like on holiday ? I have a few ideas (used to be a travel agent) but some depend on the weather and other factors so can you narrow it down a bit ?
