Definitely a useful piece of info. A high quality nit comb for children is available free on prescription, if you ask your GP nicely. The details of it are linked to on the left hand side of the screen, if you click on the following: http://www.nittygritty.co.uk/ng/index.jsp

Thankyou to previous posters on this. I missed it first time round so felt it was worth a bump (please don't start the whole debate about the NHS again - as you can read this in freebies gone but not forgotton - that thread is closed)
Basically if you missed it first time round - you can get a free high quality nit comb for children on prescription. "The NitFree comb is also available on prescription from your GP or from any prescribing health visitor, nurse of Pharmacist - It is listed in Part IXA (Appliances) of the current Drug Tariff as the Nitty Gritty NitFree Steel nitcomb with microgrooved teeth".
The nit comb is guaranteed for ever and if it breaks you can send it back and get a new one as many times as you need.
I got one for my children today - and it's great. It's got special swirly bits to get the eggs. Children haven't had nits yet but as they're starting school I thought it a wise precaution to start regular combing. I just left the details (as above) with the doctors receptionist and they arranged for me to collect it at the local chemist - so no need to see a doctor or anything.

Might let the school know. When they have an epidemic & send out thier newsletters to parents, they could perhaps slip this information on the bottom. That would save many parents money. Here to save money. To date i have saved £73.41
