Networks Allowing Calls to 03 Numbers?

Options
Hi,

Now the new range of non-geographic numbers are out, which of the networks allow calls to them and how much are they charging?

Are they following the rules as Ofcom set them out?

Does anyone know?

So far I have been able to find out that BT allow them and do actually treat them as 01/02 numbers as Ofcom require so they'll be included in the free calls.

Speaking to Gordon at Primus earlier, he advised me that by Tuesday morning they will be able to be called using their service too, though they were more than a little ambiguous on the call cost saying that they'll be charged at the same rate which BT charge them, so if that's true then they'll be 2p/min and free upto 90mins depending what tariff you're on but we'll have to check our bills.

My tests today reveal Primus does not (yet) carry them - in fact, when I queried it with them they (incredibly) replied:-
    Thanks for your enquiry

We are not aware of such a prefix and the only way round this is to use the 1280 BT override code as the 03333 numbers will not be added to our switch.

    Many Thanks

Calls via 18185,1899 & 18866 resulted in an "The number you have dialled has not been recognised. Please check and try again" announcement after the usual "Zero p per minute" tariff announcement.

Calls with the 1280 prefix (i.e. overriding Primus and hopping back onto BT) were successful.

Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

If they (Primus) don't add it then they better get used to calls from me. Though even more surprisingly, 6 people at BT were completely unaware of the number, 2 more gave me the non-discounted rates for calling 0845 numbers before finally getting a manager, who kindly sent me an email with links to the relevant sections of the price list online confirming that Ofcom regulations are being followed by BT.

I expected 1899/18185 not to work as VoipBusterPro doesn't at the moment work.

A lot seem to be slow on the uptake when it comes to supporting these numbers which is a shame because I've bought one for my VoIP set-up so that people can call me within their package allowances, which will mean that people won't have to pay for calling my 07017 number, (I made it free for people with an ENUM supporting SIP carrier), which can purely be for diverting calls to my mobile.

Speaking of which, I should set-up the 03333 number for calls via ENUM to make them free from VoIP also.

This is the message I get via VoIPStunt on my ATA (have dial plans so I don't need to dial 0044 etc).

This is the message from a Virgin Media line.

This is from a Three mobile.

Looks like BT and Primus (if they are true to their word), are leading the way when it comes to people being able to call these numbers.

Ah well, those who can't call it will have to continue to call my 0870 number until their company will allow them to call my 0333 number.

At least BT are doing what is required and charging them exactly the same as 01/02 numbers.

I would just like to ask if anybody has any further networks from which these numbers can be called.

Vodafone are now routing to the numbers

Primus/PlanetTalk are still not, and for the past two weeks every two days I have been given a resolution time of 2 days.

I have heard that Sky, AOL, O2, Virgin and 18185.co.uk are now routing them correctly, can anyone confirm this?

    18185 certainly is.
