Anyone Know How To Get Rid Of Lumpy Red Pores On Upper Arms

Hi Everyone. DD is getting quite upset because she has lumpy red pores on her upper arms and red pores, which are not lumpy, on her forearms. She exfoliates and moisturises regularly all to no avail, in fact they seem to be getting worse as time goes on. She's tried different brands of moisturiser including organic/all natural ones which don't seem to make any difference. Anyone any advice to offer? Many thanks.

I got these as a teen, they persisted through 12 years on the pill and have no apparent sign of going.
I was told they are due to toxins, and to drink more water... I've never been very good that it

I get them when I don't drink enough water. I don't get them when I drink 2litres+ per day (this includes herbal teas, but not any fluid which contains caffeine, sweeteners etc).
Remember that fruit and veg also contain large amounts of water ditto any food you boil (rice, pasta etc). There's more than 1 way to get your fluids!

I remembered there being something about arms on channel 5's 'Diet Doctors'. so I've done a search on their website and found this:
"An astonishing one in three people have a condition called keratosis pilaris, which is rough skin on the back of the arms that feels like goosebumps. It's caused by extra keratin accumulating in the hair follicles. Sometimes it can affect the back and chest and, in less common forms, the face and eyebrows too. In extreme cases it's sore and itchy.
But good news is you can get rid of it through a change in diet. It's a fatty acid deficiency so you need to eat more oily fish. Vegetarians should eat a handful of linseed every day or use linseed oil in dressings. To supplement your diet further, take multivitamins and omega-3 and -6. You will probably see the change within the first two weeks!"
If you google 'keratosis pilaris' you will get loads of info, including some pics to check whether this looks like the right condition.
Don't know if this is of any help or not, but might be useful!

how old is she? i had them really badly up until a few years ago (mid 20s). i'd give savlon a go as a moisturiser - it seemed to help for me. it still works better than any expensive stuff on dry skin on my face too!:happyhear0

This is interesting (and certainly the condition is a new one to me!) but is it just Ch5 who suggest the oil supplements? I've had a quick surf and haven't noticed any other sites mentioning them.
But then, I'll try anything once!My TV is broken!

I contacted Ian marber (The food doctor) about this and he too said it can be a fatty acid deficiency.0

Many thanks to all who replied. Daughter's mid-twenties and generally health conscious and eats well but it's very interesting about the fatty acid deficiency and also the Pill theory. Also now we have a name for the condition dd can do a bit of research herself. I'll pass all the information on and report back. Thanks again everyone.0

Same with me - I found fish oil tablets (even thought they are truly vile) have made my skin clear up no end (face, neck and arms). That, *lots* of water and not drinking diet coke any more worked for me. Hope you find something that helps, best of luck cel x:staradmin:starmod: beware of geeks bearing .gifs...:starmod::staradmin:starmod: Whoever said "nothing is impossible" obviously never tried to nail jelly to a tree :starmod:0
