Suggestion for MS Old Style ...

... could we have a "sub" forum?

Seems there are two clear needs and expectations from the many user's of Old Style.

On the one hand, factual, information is required and it must seem wearisome for those who prefer those to be put off by happy chatty diversions.

On the other, "chattier" threads could perhaps be given a sub forum so that there really is a place where old stylers can have "Coffee Morning" style topics which they do not necessarily think to have or want to have in The Arms.

I'm sure that would cause less confusion and make for a happier environment all round - plus making this particular area more streamlined, pertinent and user friendly, perhaps?

I agree. I love the old-style tips, but sometimes a chat and a 'virtual' old-style coffee would be really nice.

    Queenie for President!!!!! :D

I'm not at all convinced that the 2 could be seperated:confused: Of course I'm willing to try if that's what the majority decide to go with:cool:

I am inclined to agree lillibet, however there seems to be a lot of posters who aren't so keen on the chatty approach that is becoming dominant.

perhaps if we tried to seperate the two, more people would be happy and therefore contribute?

why not give it a go? what do others think?

I'm with you Lillibet, although I think it's a marvellous idea Queenie :T

I'm probably one of the worst for going OT and chatting :o ... and I'm sorry if that upsets some people, but I'll try to do better in future ;)

If however, the majority want a separate Coffee Morning type area then you got my vote too :D

Can I just point out that any request for a sub-forum or different forum should be placed on This Site for Martin and the MSE team to consider ;)

edited to add there is nothing to stop you running an Arms type thread that is ongoing but a sub-forum is a different thing.

Thank you Edinburghlass, I'm aware of that. If enough people post into this thread in support of the OP I intend suggesting that they pool their thoughts into a single post which could then be submitted there.

The subject heading is MS Old Style and I feel it should stay here for the time being.

Well, yes. But I read it that Queenie was only making a suggestion.

An excellent idea - entiitled "Coffee Shop" perhaps?

It might be an idea to get a general feel here first of what people want before submitting it to the MSE team, but I also like the suggestion of a specific thread too :)

I prefer the idea of a sub-forum over a long thread as sometimes peoples posts can get missed in a long thread and I would hate for anyone to post and then think they were being ignored just because their post has been missed.

But then I'm just an all round softy :D

And I love Queenies suggestion anyway, it would be great to have somewhere to put those "what are you having for tea tonight"? threads and "Guess what I found in Wilkinsons" somewhere to brag about great charity shop finds (only you lot understand this thrill)

Coffee Shop over The Arms? I'm just too old to handle my drink these days and I need caffeine to keep me going :D
Organised people are just too lazy to look for things
