Hello
I wonder if anyone can help me - after reading through the threads on making gift hampers for presents. I have decided to give it a go and make christmas gift baskets for my Mother in Law, Best friend & her partner, my niece who is Horse mad and also one for another of my nieces.
The gifts basets I had in mind are:-
Mother in Law
I have managed to get hold of White Gold Earrings for £5 ( listed price £14.99) Elizabeth Arden Minature fragrance gift set for £2.99 ( £ 12.99 listed price) using codes from the discount thread for empire stores. I am also going to put in a bottle of babycham and some chocolate from thorntons.
Bestfriend & Her Partner
Bottle of Rose Wine from M& S ( given to me as a present - but due to having had heart surgery cannot drink at mo) Gift Set of Wine Stoppers ( again unwanted gift given to me last year from Boots) I am also going to get a box of thortons continental ( as best mate loves them) and again I have got her a pair of Gold earrings for £5 again from empire stores. Also a boots royal jelly gift set (again unwanted pressie - due to having very sensitive skin I could not use it)
Niece ( aged 9) who is horse mad
Struggling here for ideas but thought about putting in a horse book (encyclopedia or similar) some horse themed stickers,
Any other ideas on this theme would be most appreciated - she doesnt have her own horse but goes riding every week and wants to work with horses when she is older
Update - I have just managed to order 2 pairs of Horse Themed Pyjamas
plus a free Art Set from Grattan - which I will give to a friends little girl as part of her pressie this year.
Niece (aged 8)
Last christmas I did her a christmas stocking and I have loads of items still left over that wouldnt fit in her stocking last year - so these can be made into a basket for her for xmas 2008 - the gifts include, bead necklace making set, girly notepad and pen, couple of reading books ( she is book mad) lipstick kit, makeup brush set and a couple of jewellery items.
If anyone could let me know what they think of the sets and ideas I have had for the baskets I would very much appreciate it and any ideas on Horsey gifts would be most welcome
thanks
Vicky

What lovely, thoughtful gift baskets. Well done you. X x0

They all sound fab, if you want something else for the Horsey one, maybe gloves or socks as it can get really cold riding in winter0

Many thanks great ideas - will go off searching for gloves and socks now to complete her hamper.
Also got her a horse jigsaw too so she will have fun doing that.
She will be so chuffed when she gets this I cannot wait to give it to her.
Best wishes

vickeym, just noticed on another thread that tesco direct have 75% off equestrian products......gloves,small whip, pink bandages etc.Dont know if these are any use as i havent a clue about horses im afraid!I know you have to pay for delivery although they do deliver to some larger stores for free0

My suggestion isn't horsey but I have been struck by how many children, girls and boys of ages from 7 - 15 are pleased to receive a copy of the Guiness book of records. I have bought several of the last few years and intend to buy a bulk amount after Christmas (of the 2008 one which is due out in the next 2 weeks) to keep as presents for my children's friends for the first 6 months or so of 2008. They are usually reduced in Tesco etc to about a £5 then so a good price. Sorry if it's not what you are after but I thought someone else might be interested as well!0

Thanks for this info shazziere I was looking at them last night but to be honest dont know a lot about horses myself not will need to speak to my sister before I buy anything "equestrian" but the prices are brilliant arent they so hopefully my sister will be able to find something on there to suit.

Re horsey basket.
Riding gloves, a good pair will have rubber bits on the palms and round the fingers. Should not be thick material, light weight and elasticated.
Don't bother with a whip (if its a riding school they will lend her one, but tend to discourage them) or a silk for her hat, unless she has a hat of her own. Bandages etc are for the horses and only used in events, but again, she won't need them.
So, I'd go with riding gloves, proper thermal socks (that are not too think) if she has a mobile phone get her an arm strap for it (a good present if she is on the horse alone in case of emergences, as is a high viz bib) and a good book on horse care.0
