lumpy bum, this was a reply that I got to the post I put in the trips & travel section. No good for us because there's no tent sites but it might be good for a motor home

Donington nurseries have a campsite for a caravan with hook up its £15 an night tel 01332810304 possibly not within walking distance though.

Thanks Phil for your reply, I've tried a couple of sites on there but they're all full, looks like we might've left it too late to think about camping, might have to drive home on Saturday night and then back again on the Sunday
  • Could have cried last year when we realised you can camp for free in the grounds of Donnington Park -Booked into a 4 star hotel in Nottingham (Think they had awarded the stars to themselves!) Took ages to get to and from the racetrack and we so love camping, but didn't consider it an option as I was 6 months pregnant back then.

Lets hope the weather's as gorgeous as it was last year and look out for David Epton (OH's workmate and very good formula 3 driver).

Lumpybum, I found this on the websiteThere are loads of extra things to do including a FREE funfairhttp://www.worldseriesbyrenault.com/donington/uk/finlaybaby, any idea how to contact Donnington to find out about the camping?? Do we need to book a site or just roll up and find a space??
  • Last year it was just a case of rolling up and finding a space. There was a festival atmosphere and I was gutted to have to return to our hotel -Though we had a great night out in Nottingham.

There are loads of freebies and we were lucky enough to be indulged with corporate hospitality -Just had to be careful I didn't upstage the pit girls with my bump! Ha,ha!

I have read somewhere that the people who were camping were given a bit of a hard time by the stewards early the next morning.Im trying to find it but can't remember where I read it but it put me off staying there overnight.I found this site quite close by and have booked there for two nights .The Friday and the Saturday with a group of 21 of us going.

I hope this is of some use to somebody.

As a footnote the Sat is when England play Israel kick off 5pm Live on BBC1 so you may want to consider somewhere with a pub/club with a TV if there are footie fans in your party like we have.

I camped last year when I went to the renault world series. I camped in Donington Park Farmhouse Hotel Camp Site. I would definitely reccommend it. The only bad thing I could really say is there was some noise from the airplanes throughout the night. It was less than a 5 minute walk to donnington park itself.
