Top spec 17" TFT with 8ms, DVI etc all for £192 inc VAT & delivered! 19 left!

Hi all,

For those of you who want a very high spec 17" TFT that also looks fairly nice - and not like an Arianet zimmerframe - this looks a fantastic deal!

http://www.novatech.co.uk/novatech/specpage.html?HYD-L72D

I know there are 19inch TFT's cheaper but they are not nearly as fast as this one. ALso not everyone wants a 19inch monster regardless of how flat it is because you still need a large distance to be able to view it comfortably - some of us have small bedrooms!

This is a limited edition that Hyundai say they are making only for 3 months - god knows whether that's true or not but £192 inc VAT and delivery looks to be great value for what they've managed to pack into the monitor.

I don't know how good Hyundai are for TFT monitors, but I'll know soon enough - I ordered one today!

Anyone got any opinions??

They got new stock of these today in at Novatech - last batch ran out very quickly as far as i know!

Grab one while you can I say!

Cheers

Strangely Novatech don't mention it has DVI in their main headline for that monitor - you need to look in the specs before you see it!

Very strange marketing I must say - but it gave me a v nice surprise to find it I must say!

Just bought a 19" Hyundai L90D+ TFT monitor from Microdirect. Monitor great. Advertised at £298.44 but my account was debited for £337. Still waiting for a refund.

I've heard that specs on the L90 are the same as on the L72D (the one im mentioning) except that its 19" instead of 17".

Is the picture quality any good on the L90? I've had difficulty in finding reviews for the L72D despite the good specs.

    Cheers

Got my Hyundai delivered today and just connected it all up - looks quite different to the CRT in terms of picture quality.

Seems more grainy - more than the old TFT at work - and teh edge of text looks quite washed out.

Anyone else got this monitor?? Maybe i need to get a DVI graphics card and use the DVI function instead of the VGA connection?

I'm hoping it will improve as I expcted the picture quality to be much sharper - I've seen other TFT's before and know they can be quite sharp.

    Thanks

If you're moving from a CRT to a TFT and you're using Windows XP, remember to change your refresh rate and turn on cleartype. Go to Start Menu --> Settings --> Control Panel --> Display. Then...

Refresh rate: Go to the Settings tab, click on the advanced button, go to the Monitor tab then change the "Screen refresh rate" to 60 Hertz. Then click OK

Cleartype: Then go to the Appearance tab, click on the Effects button. Tick the box next to "Use the following method to smooth edges of screen fonts", and select Cleartype from the options. Click OK on all the boxes left open.

Oh, and remember that TFTs have what's called a "native resolution", looks like the above is 1280x1024. Make sure that your resolution is set to the same otherwise your screen won't be running at optimal quality. You can change it from the Settings tab mentioned above.

I have the L72D - Great monitor, nothing but praise. Note there is an L72D+ which has the contrast ration of 700:1 (the L72D is 500:1)
